It seems that Jaws 2 is the only Jaws score that Intrada has still available. I have the all new Intrada releases but I hope that this new reissue of first Jaws is not going to be so different because I don't want to spend another 30$ plus postage plus custom charges on this one.

IIRC, it was stated quite a while back that--whenever Intrada runs another pressing of Jaws--the altered program would only be the removal of the Amity Beach Music cues (Disc 2, Tracks 13-18). All it's losing is the 14 minutes of source music.

Watched Jaws for the first time in decades. Probably over 30 years. I prefer the OST over the film score so I'm not to familiar with it. I was surprised how little music there is in the first half of the film.

The OST literately has about six minutes of score before heading out to sea which I imagine is about the halfway point of the film. Arguably less as the Jaws theme is not really heard in its entirety in the film. Was this done of purpose (artistic reasons) or for budgetary reasons?

I think the original MCA Jaws albums plays wonderfully. Same with E.T. I like having the full score but as a listening experience, I like Williams soundtrack album choices.

That's quite a recurrent methodology in many Spielberg/Williams collaborations. Most of their films are scored more sparsely in the first 2-3 reels and then music starts to get more present as the film goes on. Of course there are exceptions in one way (TEMPLE OF DOOM is virtually scored wall to wall) or the other (SCHINDLER'S LIST, SAVING PRIVATE RYAN), but that seems the prevalent method.

Also, every Spielberg/Williams score opens musically with a downbeat tone, then closes with an uplifting one.

Me too. I'm glad I own the expansions but I really go back to the OST's for Jaws, E.T. and 1941.
I have a greater appreciation for their construction and listening experience, now more than ever.

Never noticed these trends. I guess it depended on the project.

What an unexpected surprise! The fact that it was unsure if a full-program re-release was even possible, makes this a remarkable announcement. Intrada could have just re-released the score as a 1disc (that would have probably been way easier for them). Comes to show that they are passionate at what they do and really strive for the best release possible. Thanks Intrada, for all your hard work!

Awesome. Thanks for posting! I will pick up a copy.

I wonder if they will do the same for Jaws 2? I would love to make it a double-buy!

Now if they will just re-print the Back To the Future trilogy. I still need Part III and I will not pay the outrageous eBay prices.

My wife got me Jaws 2 for Christmas so I'm set. But I hope they do too. As for Back to the Future, I also need part 3 but I think that was produced by Varsese.

Yeah Part 3 is controlled by Varese in perpetuity, so out of Intrada’s sphere alas.

Thanks for the info. I think I bought the others from Intrada so I didn't realize Varese did the BTTF releases.

On Jaws 2 I still have hope that it will be rereleased in the future remastered and with the source music that Williams vetoed on the 2015 release.

Any estimate as to when these might actually ship from Intrada?
