I guess you were joking (maybe alluding to Stylotone Deluxes), but if you weren't, the thread topic is about the CD Club, and the vinyl L.A. CONFIDENTIAL was announced separately.

The Variety article says:
https://variety.com/2019/music/news/producer-robert-townson-exits-soundtrack-label-varese-sarabande-after-three-decades-exclusive-1203118578/
Townson’s final Varèse productions will be “one last batch of Varèse CD Club titles being announced in February as well as a final few releases over the coming weeks and months,” including a Season 6 “House of Cards” CD and LPs of both Jerry Goldsmith’s “L.A. Confidential” and Bernard Herrmann’s “Vertigo,” two classic scores from the past.

I got the LA Confidential vinyl and it's just the original 30 minute version, sadly. Also sad is the Naxos shipping department crammed the vinyl into the mailer so hard that it bent the one corner of the sleeve almost completely.

Seinfeld was the show about nothing. This is the thread about nothing.

To wait is a waste of time.

Criticize a label and at the same time wait impatiently for its announcement is a paradox.

This "last batch" seems expected as the Messiah... Many will be disappointed, inevitably!

So, why not take advantage of this time to relax, listen more carefully to recent editions of our favourite labels (Varèse included), and why not all these old CDs that we have only listened to once? The essence of all this is the music, not the collection, or the excitement of novelty. Ok, as many here, I expect these new Varèse, hoping for a miracle, a revelation, the unexpected, but...

Here I can listen to some of my most cherished CDs, Robin Hood & The sea hawk (Kojian re-recordings), The final conflict, Masada, Link, Lionheart vol I, The empire strikes-back (Gerhardt re-r.), Jungle book/Thief of Bagdad, Dracula, A little princess, Spellbound/New England concertos, The right stuff/N&S, A streetcar named desire (Goldsmith re-r.) and so many other... All thanks to Varèse.

Varese behavior as usual. After a public statement like this no explanation or clarification. But in the meantime they could provide corrected copies of "The Thorn Birds". big grin

I don't think too many people here have warn feelings about Varese, but if they release something I want, I'll buy it (just like I would with any other record company). That's a very rare event these days.

Sorry, but I own exactly zero CDs that I have only listened to once, outside of a few I'm trying to get rid of.

I have no problem with Varese. Never had any problem with any order myself. I could understand if others would be frustrated at problems they may have encountered, but I’ll never understand how recent problems could allow anyone to dismiss the staggering and astounding body of work and legacy that Varese has built releasing so much amazing film music for decades. The big picture would indicate, current controversies notwithstanding, that we as film music fans should be extremely grateful for all the magical music Varese and Townson have brought to our ears and attention.

It was their release of Goldsmith’s Total Recall in 1990 (on cassette) that helped me fall in love with film music to begin with.
