Did those options come from Leigh Phillips? I don't know why somebody hasn't kickstarted a new recording of The Mephisto Waltz and The Other. Though tapes of the original recordings exist, at least in part (and in parts), whoever has the rights doesn't seem keen on releasing them--they've had, what, over 50 years to do so. So, new recordings of these two landmark Goldsmith scores would probably do well via a Kickstarter campaign.

But there are worthy Goldsmith scores like The Chairman which are actually confirmed to be lost in complete form. I still have hope that a deal can be worked out to expand The Mephisto Waltz and The Other someday. The complication is that Varese has album rights in perpetuity but Disney now owns Fox and Varese hasn’t expanded a Fox title in years. But we saw LLL successfully sub-license Goldsmith’s two PotA scores from Varese. So maybe Intrada could one day do the same, and add additional cues through Disney. At least for The Other we have the isolated score track Mike Matessino did for the Twilight Time Blu-ray, which more than doubled the Varese suite running time. I think Mephisto would be a super complex and expensive project considering all the proper overlays and effects that would have to be done. So I’m hoping something can be worked out for the original recording some day. There’s just so much worthy Goldsmith *without* original tapes surviving at all, which could be done much less expensively, for Leigh to tackle sooner. I think you’ll be happy with the next project… Yavar

That website caused me some problems (wouldn't load on my desktop and took forever to load on my iPhone), but I'm glad I persevered because it was a really great interview with Leigh! I had no idea it had happened, so really appreciate you bringing it to our attention here on the board, Thierry. By the way, just in case anyone has an eye on this thread specifically and missed the news: Leigh Phillips's Goldsmith Anthology project continues with a fourth crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter -- this time to record THREE LOST TV MOVIE SCORES! The main goal to record CRAWLSPACE and PURSUIT was met less than six days into the campaign, and now Leigh is a couple thousand dollars into the (just over) $5,000 required to add the third score, THE PEOPLE NEXT DOOR -- if you haven't pledged yet (and especially if you enjoyed any of Leigh's General Electric Theater recordings) I hope you'll consider joining the campaign now! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lpfilmmusic/record-jerry-goldsmiths-scores-for-pursuit-and-crawlspace/description One nice thing about the new campaign is that a CD option is available up-front, thanks to the now-established partnership with Intrada.
