I'd be all over Moonraker! Wasn't someone going to do a rerecording then suddenly dropped the project? That kinda indicated a release of the original score was in the works...

I would buy every Bond expansion - and these three would be fantastic.

But I doubt the accuracy of that source, sorry.

It was Tadlow before King of Kings.

It was going to be recorded on 2015 by James Fitzpatrick reconstructed by Nic Raine with Kickstarter funding. Although the funding had reached the target and Roger Moore himself promoted it at the time, the project was blocked following a notice from alleged right owners - here is the note James sent to contributors at the time:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/681802762/moonraker-new-recording?ref=email
James Fitzpatrick says:
Dear Everyone
It is with great regret that I have to cancel this Kickstarter project before any funds are taken. Certain rights issues have been raised which might mean protracted negotiations with the companies involved which may well go beyond the end of the project. I would sincerely like to thank everyone for their involvement in the project and if negotiations are successful then I have the knowledge that there is a great demand for this title. Thank you for all your hard word. James

Thanks, maybe it was a rights issue over the Bond Theme?

That's a very uncharacteristic thing for LLL to do.... I have seen the JWFan post but I'm not convinced the original message (wherever it was posted) is genuine. They've previously shied away from announcing major projects in advance. Now their inbox is going to get bombarded by emails asking when the Bond soundtracks are out.

This.

I'll believe it when I have those sweet, sweet discs in my hands. Until then...we can hope!

It's not without president; he has mentioned titles that were coming or in-the-works at conventions before and not here until time passed or the release happened.

Bond titles were "planned" but now everything is on hold especially now that MGM is on the selling block

Sorry guys

Welp, I'll take that as a confirmation. And for what it's worth, on hold is better than cancelled.

Die Another Day was released in 2017 and The World is Not Enough was released in 2018, so it sounds like there was going to be a nice, big batch of Bond titles for 2019! Hopefully they will all see the light of day eventually.

Truly a bummer to hear. Hopefully all of this gets resolved. For what it's worth, you've done a fantastic job with the two releases you were able to do, and I'm sure these three would've met or exceeded expectations smile

Fans of that beaufiul Moonraker score can't seem to get a break.

I was crestfallen when the Tadlow had to be scuttled and now this.

It sounds like it will likely show up someday. Just not anytime soon.

It was genuine and was originally posted in the ‘James Bond Music Group’ on Facebook by MV in response to a general question about expanded Bond scores. I’m not sure why anyone would want to fake something like that and post it but it’s genuine and they didn’t!

Such as shame we came so close to Moonraker, along with TND and LtK.

Hopefully this is only a pause and not a complete stop. But it doesn't look like anything is going to happen until the new film comes out (whenever that is) and MGM is sold.
Fingers crossed wherever MGM ends up is open to licensing.

... but, the Moonraker masters are lost or burned up in a fire. I've heard this for ten years on FSM.
To my recollection only one industry professional called it BS on here.

Dear MV,

I've got a question concerning the cue "Smoking telegram" from the new X-Files-Box:

My understanding is that this cue was done at the very last second (As I recall the scene in question was a added to the film at the last minute, I could be wrong) and Mark just knocked it out at his studio and sent it over to the dub stage and that DAT or D-88 has vanished in the last 16 years.

Ford A. Thaxton

Then why not use the film stem, ala Hook?

1. No room on the cd
2. The studio, producers and composer didn't want to use anything off the stems

There were a few odds and ends that could not be found, but the real heart breaker was the final track Mr. Snow did last minute for the film. After nearly two years and thousands of dollars, we had to finally toss in the towel on the search and release it as is.

MV

So how DID you succeed in the end? Must be quite the story!
I mean all in all you must have been searching for 8 years for this very cue!
And I can't thank you enough for this!

Any chance of Silvestri's Van Helsing getting an expansion ? Not sure if that'd be in your neck of the woods, or Intrada.

I understand that some of the fantastic big Black Friday titles which didn't make the schedule in 2020 due to late approvals etc but we were told them to expect in the first Qtr of 2021. Any idea if we can expect them soon?
