Indeed.

Plenty of Williams fanatics in this world (yours truly included), so I think you should stick to your "Conti being number 1", which is slightly more unusual. Gives you that extra, unique edge, henry!

Not a hard choice for me, Williams is that much better than Conti, & I do love Conti especially Rocky's & The Right Stuff their on Williams field.

Once upon a time, my favorite composer was John Barry.

Then it was John Williams.

Then it was Jerry Goldsmith.

Then it was Bernard Herrmann.

Then it was James Horner.

Then it was Vangelis.

Then it was Jerry Goldsmith again.

Then it was Maurice Jarre.

Then it was Jerry Goldsmith once again.

Then the 1990s came along, which meant it would never be Jerry Goldsmith again.

Today it is John Williams.

Haha. I can see where Paul is coming from.
Mine would be similar, except all the other composers* only ever managed second place to John Williams.

*Jerry Goldsmith, James Horner, Bruce Broughton, Lee Holdridge, David Newman, Pino Donaggio, Danny Elfman, JNH...

Ennio is in that hallowed place with the likes of John Barry, Maurice Jarre, Bernard Herrmann and Jerry Fielding.
They never displaced Jay Dubya as my Top Guy, but I could hear that they existed in their own rarified space.
