Is there a chance you were converting from Euros to Dollars?

Yes, Euros to Dollars. It came out to about $66. Unless I'm doing it wrong, somehow.

Regardless, the set is worth it.

Why do Americans seem so averse to owning a multi-region player? The rest of the planet has managed to deal with it to get the generally superior region 1/A releases that have come out over the last twenty-odd years, but a distributor outside the US puts together a decent edition and suddenly the Yanks are all "HELP HELP I'M BEING OPPRESSED."

It's the first thing I check when looking into new hardware, half of them are multi-region out of the box and the other half can usually be hacked just by typing a code into the remote. It's really not difficult.

Buy me a region-free Blu-ray player or your entire comment is hypocritical.

You can't spend less than $100 on one? That's less than three 2-disc soundtrack releases.

That explains it.
Base is in the UK, so that price is in pounds sterling, not euros.

Hopefully the exchange doesn't fluctuate too much by late October. I think the lowest rate I've gotten over the last few years has been $1.21 to £1. I think it was $1.23 when I checked earlier tonight.

You might not even need to buy one. Google your player model plus "multi-region hack" or something similar in Google and there's a good chance all you'll need to do is input a code on your remote.

Okay, so is the 4K set region-free or region blocked? I'm hearing it's both. Which is just lunacy.

That's all I need to know before deciding to purchase.

The 4K disc is region-free, but the extras are on region-locked Blu-rays.

I bit the bullet and bought this today - so those of you on the fence, I'm sure a cheaper, Region A set is right around the corner. big grin

That's what I am going to try. Otherwise, I need to replace the BD player in the living room and I'll probably put the current family room 4K player (UBP-X800) up there and buy a Region Free 4K player for the family room. Are there any Region Free 4K players that will also play SACD?

An Oppo will play just about everything- but even pre-owned they are still probably too expensive for most users.

There will be subsequent releases of these, both Bd and 4K, that leave out the deluxe packaging- books, cds etc- and just have the three cuts of the films. Those , much less expensive, releases will show up next year at some point.

I doubt we will see a domestic release of this anytime soon. The producer wants too much for the rights, and the prospect of a return for anyone that would license it is only going to be lowered from the region free 4k sets here (and cheaper ones next year), satisfying most of the current pent-up demand.

I received my copy today and am currently working my way through the music. It seems to have every piece of library music in the film (except for the organ fairground-esque music when they're playing in the arcade). The Goblin CD sounds better than the 20th anniversary edition, but I haven't heard any of the subsequent releases of that program so I can't compare it to those.

Gonna check out some of the new extras tonight then watch the film on Monday. It's a beautiful package.

Track Artist = Paul Merrick
Track Title = Cantando

There's a track called "Cantano" but I don't think the composer is listed in the booklet. Is it the acoustic guitar track when they're living in the apartment and arguing about the TV broadcast?

"Cantando" is the solo classical guitar piece played on the high-end stereo when the survivors are having dinner in the loft. It's included in the Second Sight compilation.

Neither the arcade music nor the African drums and chanting heard during the scene in the gun shop are included in this compilation. These pieces of music and sound effects come from the Major Records sound effects library, and have been misidentified in the track list posted by jacksparrow900.

In addition, many of the cues in the list posted by jacksparrow900 were used only in the extended Cannes cut of the film. The Second Sight De Wolfe compilation focuses on George Romero's theatrical version. This is discussed in detail in the liner notes included in the set's book, Dissecting the Dead

Hi Jim, good to see you again !!! I am somewhat late to the game but I am currently going through the contents now. What a joy to listen to these tracks in very good if not excellent sound quality.
And hearing the tracks that have also been used in other flicks like HORROR HOSPITAL or PIECES is a blast too.

However, I am not really sure that it was the best decision to present all tracks unedited. The 12+ minutes track from CD2 should really have been trimmed. But it might have not been legally possible ?

So, *Attention all shoppers", please buy this amazing set so we maybe get something similar for George Romero's CRAZIES.

Stay scared ..

The Goblin CD is a surprisingly good listen; for some reason it comes across like Queen's Flash Gordon album. A decent listening experience in its own right. I might make a playlist of the Goblin album with several tracks from the De Wolfe discs.
