Yes, it's a re-recording of a cue from "The Mission". One of my favorite cues from that score. It's better to hear the original cue, though.

Good for Mancina. He's done some good work. And of the superstars of his vintage -- Heston, Connery, McQueen, etc. -- Eastwood arguably has the fewest number of great scores in his filmography. Hell, beyond the spaghetti westerns, I'm struggling to think of one ... WHERE EAGLES DARE? (Which is not to say the Lalo Schifrin stuff wasn't effective.)

I've listened to it a couple of times and really like it. Clint gets some criticism in film music fan circles for not using big name composers more frequently for his films as director. In fact he did try to get Morricone but was turned down on at least one occasion. However, in my opinion, Clint's musical instincts are spot on, more often than not. 'Sully' has a jazz based score which works for the film and forms a wonderful album. Anyway, I'm looking forward to watching Cry Macho.

That was a real chore getting through those 37 minutes. Can anyone trace ANY elements of older Mancina music in this score?
