I also saw this tonight.Very good, interesting film, like a 2hr Twilight Zone. There are some holes & perhaps missing scenes, but overall if you like Peele's recent horror/thriller/TZ films, it seems to fit in that stable.
Excellent use of songs, well chosen - bogus only 13 are on the album out of 20, 25?
Powell's score is quite good, unique. I run the 'to buy or not to buy?' meter on every film. First half- relief, I'll save $31.
The second half however incorporates some terrific female vocalizations, ensemble & solo, all seemingly manipulated. Excellent mix really features this aspect often. I was won over (and $31 poorer...) by this point. There is a short, cool panicky string cue for a scene where a character discovers a file...I hope it's present? Call back to short, panicky Goldsmith thriller writing.
The sole action cue, Victory Chase, sealed it. Perhaps a bit out of place for this film, it's a wild ride of rattling, clicky clacky aggressive percussion, well mixed, that is like a farewell blast of ideas from the Bourne films.
Though the score didn't do that much for me, it was nice to see the credit "Music Composed and Conducted By," which I suspect is pretty rare these days, at least in American films.
I can't quite tell if Mondo is the sole distributor of the upcoming physical CD, or if it will be available elsewhere (Amazon, etc). It's from WaterTower, so it probably will be available elsewhere.... but assume Mondo's the exclusive distributor, just to avoid disappointment.
I wasn't a fan of the film, but Powell's score really had some standout moments and helped the film quite a bit. This chase cue is terrific with some amazing sound design.
Mondo is also releasing a separate soundtrack album that day, on both CD and LP, containing the pop songs. Be sure you don't order the wrong album. Luckily, they have entirely different covers.
With this title and THE RINGS OF POWER CD, it does seem that Mondo appear to get an exclusive 2-3 month window for purchase (which is quite expensive if you live outside the USA).
Thankfully, I'm not after this score, but waiting for TROP has been a pain, listening via YouTube and Spotify.
Now, if that ain't a First World Problem, I don't know what is
Mondo ? Well since the Rings Of Power CD release is apparently lost somewhere in Mordor, with fewer score tracks than when I ordered it...not really too pumped for them.
Great score in one of the year's worst films. After this one, Warner Bros. would be wise to take a step back from "Sci-Fi Mind Fuck" subgenre as they've lost the pulse after this, Reminisence from 2021, and Transcendence from whenever that bloody piece of shit released.

I really liked Don't Worry Darling, and I really liked Reminiscence as well. So agree to disagree.
