This season still prominently uses Broughton, but John Parker joins for a couple of episodes.

This season drops the season-long plots and instead goes for plots that last one episode. As a result, the breathing room, depth of plot and development, is kind of lost. The show was really at its peak for the first two seasons.

Ken Curtis guest stars. Unfortunately, he's wasted here, not portraying a new character, but playing Orville -- a role perfectly portrayed by Lloyd Bridges in all prior episodes. Why the change? I don't know -- Bridges died in 1998, so he was still alive. If Ken had just played somebody else, somebody that would have had reason to largely interact with Arness -- how cool would that have been?

Orville: "He's got about as much humor as a dead gopher."

Orville: "Now that right there is graveyard talk -- is that what you want?"

She was in her 20's in this episode. Today she is 66 and still quite an attractive woman.

Is that Khigh Dhiegh looking on menacingly in an un-named role at the Macahan place?

There's an actor named ... Peter Pan.

The final two episodes are a total waste of time, don't tie up any lose plots (like Luke being clear once and for all), or advance the characters any. In fact, this entire final season was largely a waste of time. Inferior to the prior two.

The first two seasons -- some of televisions finest work. It's a shame it devolved into this, and that everything was left hanging with no fourth season.

And that was that. No remakes, no re-visionings, no spin-off's, no continuations, no TV movies.
