I just love that over nine minute Come Maddalena track.

Can't say much for the film it accompanies but
this is easily in my top five favorite pieces by Morricone.
I never tire hearing it. It is a masterpiece.

Thanks, Morricone for all of these informative posts.

How about another 20!

The year that Chi Mai theme was released as a 45rpm single for Lloyd George - as pointed out earlier in the thread bt MusicMad - with Maddalena on the B-side, and this was used as the theme for BBC2's Chess programme.

Cant believe we've not talked about this since 2011?

What a great score, and i can listen to that Come Maddalena theme in all its altered-tempo variations all day.

This says Chi Mai remastered

And here was the "disco" version of Come Maddalena that they used on b side of chi mai single, for the bbc chess programme.

And for those who have never heard Edda doing breathless gasps, here we are! This is an interesting track, if you read Henry's summary above, i guess you kinda have Edda representing the sexuality of the woman and a church organ representing the priest (there is even some male church choir accompaniment). A mad mix but as usual, its very effective.

Over the road they’re having an extension built and last week I heard one of the workmen whistling Chi Mai.

On my Top 10 of Morricone, this clocks in at 4th place. So it's one of my absolute favourites. Since this thread was last active in 2011, I've acquired the whole soundtrack.

I love it when you hear someone - often unconciously - whistling or humming an Ennio track. I worked in an office where 1 guy was called Sean. And another bloke who had seen the Duck you sucker on tv walked around the office several times daily singing Sean..Sean..Sean to him as a pisstake!!

Whenever Sean came up with a good idea he would say "And dats why we need da firecracker!"

A question:

Has Morricone ever made any comments about Pink Floyd?

"Erotico Mistico" sounds like an outtake from PIPER AT THE GATES OF DAWN or SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS, which came out a few years earlier.

I know that the Pink Floyd guys were Morricone fans (at least Roger Waters, who eventually got to "work with him" on LEGEND OF 1900), but how was it the other way around?
