Tomorrow is the last day KOTM will be on a screen here in Zurich. Very sad this came so fast. Good thing to have Bear McCreary's gorgeous score to keep the images of the movie alive until I can play it in glorious 4K @home
Managed to see this and loved every second. Daughter's Father's Day treat. She enjoyed it enough too though her mother sank into the seat for most of it wishing she was watching Rocketman. Same problem as some on here two and a half hours of big monsters bashing each other! So, what's not to like?
Loved the score too, and managed to get the real thing on cd. Can't get that damn Ifukube Godzilla theme out of my head, nor the Blue Oyster Cult cover. Full marks to McReary for incorporating these and other themes into his own score. Goes to show that some composers put the subject and the fans first and keep these things together. Just what I said should have been done with Elfman's Batman theme on further Batman films...
Just a word about track running order. I see by some reviews and the listing at Screen Archives that it's slightly different to mine. The Blue Oyster Cult cover and the classic Ifukube Main Title are tracks 6 and 9 on my second disc, whilst King of Monsters is track 5 and Mothra's Song and Ghidorah Theme are 6 and 7.
Other than that it's fine and has the 'Disc Made in Mexico' stamped on the case.
First screening of G:KOTM since it's cinematic run - got it yesterday on iTunes (4K, Dolby Atmos). I already noticed it before but it became painfully clear at home: Bear McCreary's awesome score got a back seat in the mix. His music so much deserved to be more up front! A serious flaw in this otherwise very enjoyable movie. Damn!

Yeah, I’m still loving this score and still play it regularly. It didn’t get designated to the ‘dusty shelf’ like so many after a few plays. Still got a week or so to go here before the Blu-Ray comes out and I’ve got the 4K and 3D version ordered. Reeeeeally hope that Bear gets the Kong vs Godzilla assignment.
It took me a little bit to really dig into this score and I am totally obsessed with “Rodan.” It’s a hell of a cue. It starts off feeling like something Elliot Goldenthal would have done and then at about the 2:32 mark, becomes this awesome rhythmic chant of the title of the cue. I can’t stop listening to it. Amazing work by Bear McCreary.

Yes!Yes! and YES!!! .... Love this score. Still regularly play it and it still delivers every time!
Bear McCreary just announced in his Twitter, that he will composing the music for the new season of Call of Duty Warzone game. This time it brings the crossover with MonsterVerse and therefore Godzilla and Kong (maybe other kaiju also) will arrives. This is pretty interesting news, since among other things we'll get a chance to hear the theme for Kong from McCreary!
Fantastic news. Always looking forward to any new Bear McCreary project.
In the meantime, here is one of the last large (one hour plus) Bear McCreary interview to listen to. This was around last Black Friday, Nov 2021 (during the pandemic) on Epicleff Media Youtube channel.
Bear has been incredibly busy and successfull over the last few years. IMHO he is the most creative, inspired, important film, TV and video game music composer from the last 20 years.
As he says himself about his MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE two scores, he writes action music with a melody inside... Exactly what his (and mine too) John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith and James Horner heroes did so well at their time.
Score ! The Podcast - Bear McCreary Bear appears at 5:45 in.
