YESSSS! The series is alive! I was starting to get worried when all of LLL's apparently went OOP around the same time. This is a fantastic Ernest Gold western premiere! Man, between this, LLL's new Paramount Westerns Vol. 2, and their release of Oliver Nelson's Death of a Gunfighter last year we western fans are having a great time. Yavar

At this pace we should get all the fantastic music they have in their vaults, just ten years after the Earth crashes into the sun. Or 99% of the appreciative target audience has long since been dead.

Continuing to get something, even at a slow pace, is way better than getting nothing (which has been the case with Warner Bros. for almost half a decade now). I'm grateful for each new classic score premiere/expansion that comes out, and don't take any of it for granted. Yavar

Did somebody forget to add OUT OF AFRICA to the list? Or does that not fitted criteria for the list?

Most of the titles in the Universal Heritage/Classics line have been produced by Mike Matessino, so after the titles in the official line, I listed all of the titles licensed from Universal Pictures that Mike has produced since the line started that didn't receive Heritage/Classics branding, because they presumably followed probably the same approvals and workflow as the ones that did - they are like "cousins" to the Heritage/Classics line. Out of Africa was produced by Chris Malone and Doug Fake, and Mike wasn't involved as far as I know. As for why Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid, another Intrada/Universal that wasn't produced by Mike, got the Universal Classics branding, while Out Of Africa did not, I haven't a clue.

Yeah, I'm really surprised that one wasn't to be honest, since it was solely licensed from Universal Pictures. Yavar

Out of Africa is a UME owned album, and the Classics series has only involved them on two titles as I recall: Two Mules for Sister Sara and Torn Curtain. The Classics releases are for titles that Universal Studios owns fully, with those two being exceptions. But that doesn't mean every release coming from scores they own will be part of the line, because it's mainly an inside preservation program. Who pays for the transfers & how the licensing deal is structured are factors that determine if it's in the Classics series or not. I have worked on most of them including The Last Sunset but one person only has so much bandwidth.

The sample from The Last Sunset sounds absolutely incredible for its age so kudos for your work on it, Mike! I can’t wait to hear the whole thing. Yavar

TV is now in a completely different division at the studio and has been off the table for a while. We even needed a special okay to do the Jack Marshall collection. Apart from that one, it's been a very long time since any TV titles have been done and that's the reason.
