The Ocean Blue- Kings and Queens/Knaves and Thieves
"Paraguay, My Love"
Music in the jangle/Dream Pop genre. Thirty years ago, I obsessively listened to the band's self-titled debut album, and have followed their work ever since. "Kings and Queens/Knaves and Thieves" is imo their best work since the first one, but all of their albums have been superb.
"Kings and Queens" (the video is an homage to The Seventh Seal.)
I treated myself to Rick Wakeman’s White Rock II this week, having had White Rock on LP and then on a CD of uncertain provenance, and being very, very fond of it for decades. I was a little disappointed; it doesn’t have a quarter of the character of the 1976 version and whilst it’s a pleasant listen it isn’t much more than that. Rick has done far better stuff.
This is an excellent roundup of hits. It has 24 of the 28 A-sides. For years I always wanted a proper CD of this, but K-Tel couldn't license all of it for CD, thus the track selection was altered and the number of tracks reduced. So I never bothered buying the CD version Not only does this have nice sound quality, but it's a stunner that K-Tel saw fit to devote 2 whole LP's to him. Even Bowie got just a single LP! I'm not quite sure why Marc has such a pissy expression on the cover though. Anyway, it's good stuff.
I've had her masterpiece album SHEPHERD MOONS for decades, but I recently got many of her other studio albums (now I have 7 in total), and enjoying them all.
I couldn't find a pop prog rock thread, so maybe this will do. Trying to find the band/title of this track I taped off college radio in mid 1980s. I was taping over a song and movie dialog which unfortunately can also be heard. The content I'm referring to is the drumming with occasional wailing and whispering vocals. I thought it was by "Gene loves Jezebel" but I've never found the song in their oeuvre.
