We have a library book sale every year and they put out thousands of CDs to rummage through. All are donations. It is $1 per CD and as the week goes on, the CDs get cheaper. I usually get a 6-8 CDs there every year. This year, I found 14 CDs!!!!!!!

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (Desplat)
Winter's Tale (Zimmer/Gregson Williams)
Gravity (Price)
Master and Commander (Davies/Gordon/Tagnetti)
Noah (Mansell)
Thomas and the Magic Railroad (Mann)
A Bug's Life (Newman)
The Danish Girl (Desplat)
Cold Case (Levine)
Life of Pi (Danna)
Autumn in New York (Yared)
Shining Through (Kamen)
Angels in America (Newman)
Monk (Beal)

I passed up 3 CDs I didn't have but I figured I wouldn't like them:

Frida (Goldenthal)
127 Hours (Rahman)
Slumdog Millionaire (Rahman)

I also saw several CDs that I already had.

Mask of Zorro (Horner)
Avatar (Horner)
Body Heat conducted by McNeely (Barry)
Phantom Menace (Williams)
Star Trek In Darkness (Giacchino)

Today I was helping clean out a community theater that's closing (bit of a sad affair as I used to do plays there). There was so much stuff, a lot of things were just being sent straight to the dump. Fortunately my eye caught a perfectly good copy of Hans Zimmer's The Da Vinci Code going into a black garbage bag and it's mine now. Looking forward to giving it a spin. Never saw the film, but Zimmer in quasi-religious action-adventure mode is bound to be good.

The Intrada Patton, sold to me by an awesome FSM member at the original price. Talk about fantastic deal! That score has a plethora of rewards, a real standout in my collection.

I didn't want to wait for Intrada to put it out again, as I'd heard outrageously great reviews cross the board on that release.

I got a nice hot mug of soup once for free.

My BGF loves hair metal, and she used to find 50 cent copies of the trashiest like Enuff 'Z Nuff, Dangerous Toys, etc. I never could stand the genre, but she was happier'n a pig in offal lol!

Someone unloaded a bunch of western scores at a local Half-Price Books. I was able to pick up the original Intrada Hour of the Gun cd for $7.99, the FSM The Wild Bunch 3 disc set for $7.49, and the FSM Unforgiven 3 disc set for $19.99. All discs seem to be in good condition.

Very recently I found a new copy of Hans Zimmer Winters Tale at Goodwill for only $2.99

Probably my strangest find was finding a brand new Mimic Deluxe Edition at a swap meet just weeks after it sold out.

Most bargain finds I get now are usually from charity shops like British Heart Foundation, Oxfam etc.
They will usually be scores I passed on first time or wasn't sure about/haven't heard.
I will also pick up cheap compilations for the car.
The last few things I've bagged are...
Hope Floats - Dave Grusin
DaVinci Code - HZ
Carl Davis Film Score compilation
King & I and Kismet expanded editions
Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark Greatest Hits.
All were either 49p each or 2 for a quid.
I already had Hope Floats but couldn't leave it for 10 bob.

Not sure about the others, but that copy of Winter's Tale is a nice find. It's pretty pricey on the secondary market now.

Okay, when I was a kid, back when Sean Connery was Bond and Roger Moore was the Saint, I had a significant turning point in my film music collecting. Up to then I was strictly into the spy scores, so I had the Barry Bonds, the Flints, and do on. Then I stumbled into a dime store and for a buck-something each found John Barry Conducts His Greatest Movie Hits, The Knack, The Chase, and The Ipcress File, opening my ears to several different styles for many different films. My musical world was changed, and that revelation would be the first of many, which are, thankfully, still going on.

Funny you should mention it because I JUST looked up all these CDs to see if I had any true gems and indeed the cheapest copy I saw online was for $50. The other find was the Cold Case CD. I only saw one online and it was $55!
