I saw this yesterday and was surprised to see the old Universal logo, the one that Horner scored. But with Jerry Goldsmith’s actual logo music and not the Tyler arrangement. I get the film opens in the late 80s but strange they made an effort with the logo.
Fast and Furious 9, or simply F9, earned US$162 million internationally over the weekend after its May 19 release, with US$135 million of that coming from China. It's the first Hollywood movie since 2019's Avengers: Endgame to crack US$100 million in its opening weekend in China. Universal releasead Fast & Furious 9 in China and other international markets in May, a full month before the film's U.S. release date.
Started listening to it at work today, but too many folks popping in and out of my office to hear the full release. But after getting about halfway through, it is tremendously fun. Seems like there's a bit of a lull in the sequencing ( no idea if its chronological and the film slows down a bit , etc ) but lots of big, energetic action so far. As mentioned above, it is the most orchestral of the series, and unlike the comment that immediately followed there indeed is some memorable stuff here. There's a new main theme that makes several appearances , that great "Diamonds & Emeralds" in the video above, some really dynamic / thematic action "Peligro Minas" and "Awakened" has a very nice dramatic build up. Will it win over the usual suspects? Nope. But so far it's very good. Looks doubtful we'll get an 80 minute CD presentation, but I'd love to see one.
So I enjoyed this movie for what it was. A suspend your disbelief popcorn action movie. The score was not bad at all. I am playing through it all on Brian Tyler's youtube right now and may purchase it. The quiet and dramatic tracks were really nicely done. All of it will be good for writing some fiction stories.

Actually, i'm think is the best since Fast Five, that's not saying much about the other three scores by Tyler in this franchise, but i give this, a lot of fun when is actioner and nice in the dramatic stuff, muuuch better than the others.
