Could discuss replacing Jerry on The Public Eye for sure, but also their shared interest in solo trumpet! (And The Black Dahlia is the best modern noir score in the Chinatown tradition...) Glad you enjoyed. that theme is VERY similar to the "Chiming Watch" theme from FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE.Could jerry be 'covering his tracks. with that claim? Love both themes but I think they're fairly different. Though I guess I can hear what you're talking about, it's a similarity that has never occurred to me before. Lukas and Bob both starting labels.in.their.teens! Amazing! I know Lukas was a teen when he started FSM, but wasn't he in his 20s by the time he produced his first album? But, the other titles - esp. his own scores- are well represented on disc in their original recordings. I never cared for his rerecords of PATTON, AGONY etc. /. Not a big fan of his concerts either. Then again I never cared for concerts of film music from any composer , for me, the osts are perfection! Amazing! Just goes to show there's no stopping someone who has a vision -- and wealthy grandparents! I'm thrilled Robert Townson went into business, don't get me wrong, but there's obviously more to his story than he is letting on. Doug Fake approached Fox in the early 80s about releasing The Final Conflict -- and was turned away because he had no experience in producing a record. And this was some who was already running a business. Yet a teenage boy was granted the album rights? Clearly Townsend's family had connections or a lot of influence of some kind. They were obviously loaded (most grandparents, no matter how doting, don't throw away $20,000 on their grandson's hobby). He was really engaging and articulate, and such an insider with great memories. Excellent work! I was lucky enough to assist on one of them prior to Varèse letting go 60% of their staff at Christmas. Cary Mansfield who is now head of A&R has been producing cool soundtracks for the last 7 or so years at Varèse and before that he has a 25+ year career of producing thousand+ albums with some of the biggest names in the music business. With the help of Bryon Davis who consults for them, Mike Matessino occasionally doing his magic and all the other key players, Cary has all the team he needs to keep producing cool stuff. Bryon and I knew what titles to give the Deluxe treatment to and they are working on many of them right now. These expanded scores take time and sometimes longer than expected as like I've said it before and most labels will back me up, approving these things is at the bottom the very bottom of studios TO DO list, unfortunately. With every producer at Varèse they were only as good as the team behind them who assist and work with them.
