Looks tricky because THE SANDPIPER was a hit (made money) but critically trashed. SANDPIPER got 6.3 on IMDB and so did A STAR IS BORN (1976) and it's beautiful song "Evergreen" also won an Oscar.
The one that sticks out in my head is "The Prayer" from QUEST FOR CAMELOT. Both Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli have performed it live many times, sometimes together, sometimes with other partners. But hardly anyone seems to remember what it was from.
Also, depending on who you ask, the film PAT GARRETT AND BILLY THE KID doesn't quite fit the "turkey" label, though it did flop pretty badly when first released. It's become something of a cult classic, but it also contains what might be the ultimate example of a song completely transcending its origins - Bob Dylan's "Knockin' On Heaven's Door."
I think most people know what film the song is from. Unlike some other picks here.

Which one, Quest For Camelot or Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid?
I don't think either of them is that well known among the general public at this point. And even among those who do remember, Quest For Camelot is often considered one of the worst animated feature films ever to come from a major studio.
"The Shadow of Your Smile" has proven itself to be an enduring standard. The film, "The Sandpiper," is almost universally considered to be dreck, and not even enjoyable on a camp level.
Any similar examples?
The more obvious choices are 2 from Michel Legrand. "What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life?" from The Happy Ending. And "How Do You Keep the Music Playing?" from Best Friends. I watch a lot of bad films but could not get through these two films without wincing.
Then there's Burt Bacharach's "A House Is Not a Home" from the film (1964) of the same name.

Too bad it plagiarizd " For All we Know"
I never noticed that but now that I have heard both of them together.... I still DO NOT hear the similarities to any major degree except perhaps in the general tone of the song.
I think the Turkish film industry is shamefully overlooked, as are it's host of top class film composers. Why, just the other day, I was listening to ZORBA THE...TURK by Demis Roussos, while imbibing a shrimp cocktail (it was...Tuesday...no...Wednesday) no less. Groovy!
Although the 1986 film AT CLOSE RANGE is largely forgotten by the masses, these days, the song LIVE TO TELL by the Queen Of Pop, Madonna, has gone on to become a modern day smooch/love/dance classic.

The first line... ..look at the two of us...strangers in so many ways..."
