Ray, is there any reason why Steiner´s score for the Errol Flynn western SILVER RIVER is not on the set? I can only assume that it probably would have been too expensive to produce a 4 CD set with the inclusion of that score of which acetates were/are available in the Steiner library. So was that the reason to omit it or anything else? Otherwise SILVER RIVER would have gone together very well with the other Steiner scores for Errol Flynn westerns from the 40s which are indeed now on the set. Anyway, thanks for this great CD set!
Yes, length. We originally had (partial score) SUGARFOOT as part of the set but studio dropped that due to rights issues with the picture (that also impacted the soundtrack) and would not permit us to make substitutions at that point. It's a miracle that this set is coming out at all.
At some point SILVER RIVER will hopefully make a fine stand-alone disc. And, yes, there are many others. But we always have to proceed slowly. All the studios are tightening their respective grips on licensing. I'm so happy Universal is being proactive with La-La Land.

Thanks for the info Ray. Fingers crossed there will be more Max Steiner CD's.
Ray, I hope you will answer my question. Many times you have told us that getting a CD release of THE HANGING TREE is like "opening a can of worms". I accept that answer. Have efforts been made by BYU ? Where are the "road blocks" ? Warner Bros. The Gary Cooper Estate. Maria Cooper Janis is still alive. The Marty Robbins Estate or Columbia Records The estates of Jerry Livingston and/or Mack David
I want to point out what a bargain this Max Steiner Box is. Three CD's, nearly 4 hours of music and a 40 page full-color booklet for only $34.95! Many thanks to the team that is putting this magnificent box out for all of us to enjoy!
Love westerns very-much but I have no-clue with these early westerns or what these titles sound like - but I am pleased about that mystery factor, I love Steiner for Kong in general, what i'd like too ask barring SAE is this set retailed for Europe. Thanks Brigham, great-stuff.
