I’m so excited to see this release happen, and I’m excited to see others excited for it as well! I think we went through a great decade of Rozsa renaissance but it has quieted down quite a bit. The release of this fantastic score should really help to bring in some new listeners, I hope. I’m young - but I don’t want to be the only young guy to sing the praises of Rozsa!

I'm 25 and absolutely adore Rozsa. However, as I mentioned earlier, I'm quite content with the original recording for King of Kings (of course, I might pick it up at a later date).

I'm 34 (wow...dunno if that still counts as "young"?) and have loved Rozsa since I was a child in the 90s thanks to Ben-Hur and the Thief of Bagdad...

I'm 73 and have loved Rozsa since seeing B-H at the age of 15. Interestingly, my favorite film before B-H was Journey to the Center of the Earth with music by Herrmann. I must have seen that 5 times without noticing the music. With B-H I was aware of the music instantly and came home going over the themes in my head. Strange that.

(Hey, I never miss an opportunity to bash Benny!) smile

Im in my mid 40's and I discovered Rozsa during my mid 30s ! After Herrmann he is my favourite Golden Age. composer. These re-recordings have been a great gateway to apprecite these Golden Age maestros.

And I just cant wait to get my hands on the new KING OF KINGS... Ufff!

Age has nothing to do with anything as far as I'm concerned. I was 12 years old when I got my dad to buy me the Golden Voyage of Sinbad soundtrack LP. I already knew who he was from all the biblical epics etc., that I watched at grandma's and my uncle's compilations of epic film music. Add to that I discovered how much I liked Herrmann's work in the Harryhausen films even earlier.

Golden Voyage, much as I liked it, always sounded to me like it was recorded in a biscuit tin.

It always sounded to me like it was recorded with just six players. I guess that's all they could fit in a biscuit tin.

....and at least it was a shortbread tin

I do remember being slightly disappointed in Golden Voyage compared to 7th Voyage. Whatever the recording issues, the second simply doesn't hold a candle to the first. I suppose this is Herrmann vs Rosza territory, but I love scores by both, so for me it's just about these two.

To be honest I think Herrmann simply nailed it with Harryhausen scores. No one else really comes close, good as they are.

I just listened to the complete film score for Golden Voyage. Wonderful score but ugh!, that recording. Would love to see Tadlow tackle this one.

The only score I pine for as a Tadlow release is the Jungle Book.

If Tadlow doesn't tackle this, it's highly probable that Intrada will given its current position on their poll for the next Kickstarter recording.

it is such a beautiful passionate score and the perfect book-end to Thief of Bagdad. If it is done at some point, I hope they record the Gerhardt vocal rendition of 'The Jungle" cue. Rozsa ok'd it as I recall.

Yes! A Tadlow or Intrada JUNGLE BOOK would be wonderful!

We're losing sight of the original post here which was about the forthcoming release of King of Kings and when will that be?
When I subscribed to Kickstarter and paid my £50 little did I realise just how long it was going to take. Like James I was hail and hearty 2 years ago but in the intervening period my health and finances have taken a downward spiral. I am most anxious to see this release as soon as possible. So I sincerely hope that James health issues are resolved soon. As to any future projects I think that they are too far ahead to be considered as likely (at least by Tadlow). Sad, but there it is.

I am glad you got this discussion back on track. Certainly the announcement of a release date should be forthcoming
soon. I am hoping for an Easter release.I would also like an update to the health of our friend, James. I pray for him often and would appreciate knowing how he is.

I cannot be the only one frustrated by the lack of forthcoming information on this release.
A lot of people contributed towards making this important recording happen. Some paying a LOT more than I did.
This was 3 years ago and the decline in James' health not withstanding that is a long time to wait.
In his liner notes on all his recordins he (James) always is at pains to thank all his team for their contributions. Can members of his team not take up the challenge and get this released or at least let us know what is happening.

I do not like having to make these comments and I sincerely wish James well asap but like him when this project began I too was healthy and financially comfortable, now my time is running out. So please someone make it happen perhaps for Easter!

No need to apologise after all you have done for the cause of film music over the years. But great news that it is nearly done. Best wishes to you.
