I finally watched the film today, and I really liked the score - just how it sounds in the film.

I'll explain it here. The legal cue sheet for the film credits every single original X-Men cue to Michael Kamen.

What about the unoriginal ones, then? smile

I hope that we will get a sneak peek at the packaging, discs, art work etc. shortly. Sometimes LLLR does that -- it used to be a Black Friday only thing, I think, but lately they have done that for other releases as well, like Casper last August. smile Fingers crossed for a glimpse on social media soon!

It will probably be in the newsletter they send out just before release day.

Never liked the score to this one.Easily the worst score of the entire X franchise.

Although from what i heard it may not have been entirely Kamens fault.

The New Album: Every Kamen fan and beyond should buy it.

The Movie: An exact delineation of the moment Hollywood jumped the shark on Costumed Hero Movies, team or solo. It's been all downhill since (And yes, Marvel--the Disney division--has led the way downward).

What costumed hero movies? The only comic book movies of any significance before X-Men were some Supermans and Batmans. Granted, two of those are legitimate classics, but as a film genre after X-Men is when it actually kicked in to high gear.

Yeah X-men is considered the film that actually showed Hollywood costumed hero movies could be done and be profitable outside of Batman. Heck I think it even helped Marvel out of bankruptcy.

Don't forget BLADE. That film's positive reception loosened Fox's purse strings a little for X-MEN.

after X-Men is when it actually kicked in to high gear.

Spider-Man (2002) surely galvanized it too. I remember everyone being shocked at how huge it was at the box office.

Oh man, this is gonna be a hell of a lot of fun trying to pick the album apart to make sense of what Kamen had before the Badelt bonanza blundered in.

Can't wait to read that booklet!

The way I'm reading those titles...

Disc 1 is Kamen's score as originally composed and performed (with a few exceptions).

Disc 2 is essentially the score as heard in the film plus half of the album tracks.

Is that accurate, close to accurate, or just way off course? I'm very eager to hear what this sounds like, and I'm also very curious to see how I'll be arranging my MP3 rips.

I tried to rearrange the tracks to that order as they appear in the film. Should be something like this

01 X-Men Main Title (Film Construct) :55
02 Death Camp (Film Version) 3:07
03 Rogue’s Kiss 1:51
04 Senate Discussion 2:25
05 Wolverine In The Ring (Film Construct) :28
06 Bar Fight 1:34
07 Logan Drives 1:05
08 Ambush (Film Edit) 2:17
09 They Knew / Laboratory 3:57
10 School Montage 3:15
11 Helicopter Hijack (Film Version) 1:10
12 Kelly’s Transformation 3:23
13 Jean Reads Logan’s Mind / Nightmare / Rogue Heals Logan 3:24
14 Kelly In Prison / Beach 2:48
15 Bobby And Rogue 1:09
16 Cerebro (Film Mix) 2:04
17 Logan And Rogue In Train 3:53
18 Train (Film Version) 2:34
19 Magneto Stand Off (Film Mix) 2:54
20 Xavier Reads Kelly’s Mind 2:10
21 Kelly Dies (Film Version) 1:06
22 Xavier Falls (Film Version) 1:01
23 Jean Uses Cerebro (Film Version) 1:24
24 Land Of Tolerance (Film Version) 1:53
25 The X-Jet (Film Version) 2:04
26 Over The Wall :33
27 Museum Fight (Film Version) 3:19
28 Museum Fight (Continued) 1:39
29 Logan Kills Mystique :59
30 Inside The Statue / Logan Escapes (Film Construct) 3:48
31 Fight On The Head (Film Version) 2:28
32 Final Showdown (Film Mix) 2:30
33 Logan Holds Rogue (Film Version) 2:29
34 Jean And Logan 1:57
35 Why Ask Questions / Finale / End Credits (Film Construct) 11:11

looking forward to this. I never listened to the first release because there is too much missing. But I remember liking the Cerebro and X-Jet theme. And the End Credit Suite which I listened to death on Youtube.

I'm glad that's on there. I rented the DVD and ended up recording the end credits to Minidisc before I took it back.

If Disc 1 is "the film score" than why are a lot of the film versions on Disc 2?

If I had to guess, disc 1 is as Kamen wrote it, disc 2 contains the overdubs/remixes that were done for the film.

That's how I'm interpreting it too. Definitely eager to read the liner notes!
