This along with Cool Runnings and Bird On A Wire is scores by Zimmer I would love to be released.

I am not a Zimmer fan but I adore this score.

Zimmer compsed a score that sounds both like a timeless film score, but also has moments of periodic peices to color the emotion.

I actually think this was his best period, and this, probably his best score.

There was a time, for a little while, in the early 90s when it was okay to have gentle, nostalgic music in family films. James Newton Howard's My Girl is probably the closest I can think of to League of Their Own, probably because I rewatched it recently after not seeing it since the VHS days. The movie itself moves at an uncomfortably slow pace (times a-changed) but I appreciated how it allowed the music to breathe. And it was a really effective and melodic score... and honestly captured the awkward vibe of the film quite well.

David Newman's The Sandlot is another that allowed a gentler approach. No way a sports film, let alone two, would move slow enough to inject these kinds of scores today. Products of their time for sure.

The 4K Blu-ray is getting rave reviews, for both picture and sound, and makes me want an expansion all the more.

Sigh.

So I heard some of this score yesterday and loved it. Is there any chance of a proper score release at any time? Or: is there any reason *not* to be hopeful?

I seem to recall MV in the LLL questions thread say he'd love to some day.

I'm going to agree with this being a fun score. We probably have Shirley Walker to thank for this, I imagine.

Actually I think we have to thank Ladd McIntosh, who is a big jazz artist.

Actually I suspect that Shirley Walker helped Hans Zimmer with the orchestral drama parts and Bruce Fowler and Ladd McIntosh (who played with Frank Zappa) helped Zimmer with the big band jazz stuff.

I hope this is released at some point soon - I have always enjoyed the music and am quite curious how it was really made. It's really hard to believe that Zimmer tackled this without substantial help, and both Alex Wurman and Christopher Ward are credited as additional composers. It's unusually unlike other Zimmer works, though you can still hear his style in some of the themes and what sounds like synth overdubs at parts.

It's the 30th anniversary this year. Any chance we'll get a super nice expansion to commemorate?
