Varese is great, except when it isn't and it's one of the worst then (remember G.I. Joe or Hellboy mastering?). I still fail to see it. Or, rather, hear it. G.I. Joe sounds fine to me. I don't hear any kind of problem with the audio presentation. Same here. Hellboy was fine for me too, but I'm not always the best judge of sound quality. Mostly because I'm pretty easygoing about mastering and sound presentation, for the most part.

Deputy, you might not have heard of him, but VS lent the same support to a little known Brit called John Powell to almost the same degree I thought that this started like the "Praise" thread, so why the sudden bashing? Deputy Riley and me both adore John Powell's THE BOURNE SUPREMACY (released by Varèse, of course), so I think he got my joke well Absolutely, and you're right about all the Powell releases, I had forgotten. The Bourne Supremacy score has a terrific flow and is a sensational listening experience, even though I would have welcomed a lengthier programme. Varese have always been huge Powell and Beltrami champions, and I could be mistaken, but it seems like they've put out more releases by those composers than any other that came onto the film score scene past the mid-90's. Fortunately, these two guys are my favorite of the recent composers, so it's been a true embarrassment of riches. Now if only Varese would induct Powell into their CD Club hall of fame as they have recently with Marco! And begin with a box set of the Bourne trilogy...
