You better not mention the war now.

This WAS a goal. Sometimes I'm in bed dreaming and the ref gives it, it's 2-2, and it's a different game.

1974 World Cup England national team highlights. That side didn't even make the tournament, yet they are far more exciting to watch. I know of John Toshack because his name figures in a Likely Lads joke. I'm so cultured!

Decent-ish team but mugged by Poland in qualifying.

The football in those days looked and moved like it was considerably heavier than the ball today.

Nearly every Wales player looked alike: brown hair and huge muttonchop sideburns.

I wonder if Norway might actually qualify for the next tournament.

It was and they did. Not just Wales. Long thick hair and sideburns was as de rigeur then as neck and arm tatts now

Well, that might be accurate. I think they established it years later that the famous "Wembley goal" was indeed not really a goal and the the ball did not actually cross the line. So I go with the science.

But it's no use cryin' over spilled milk. It's part of the game. :-)

Yep, this should have been, no doubt, a goal.

Neuer is one of the all-time great goalkeepers, but because he's so big, he imo looks comical when he's beaten on a goal (the Lampard goal and the debacle vs South Korea).

Lighter.
