https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6vj1q5 (load is slowed down some)

    Highlights:

  • 6:07 in. Short disco music.
  • 11:10 in.
  • 13:22/17:46 in. Train music.
  • 19:55 in.

Luanne being an idiot is very tiresome after twelve seasons.

Hank: "Everything feels tight. And European." (wearing disco cloths)

Hank: "Fun within prescribed limits. This is going to work."

Kahn: "Alcohol! It's a neon sign from God!"

  • 1237 in.
  • 13:37/14:41/16:14 in. Continues after the commercial break.

Now way Bobby is still thirteen after all the time passage (that I've been noting) since the series started.

    SEASON 13:

This is the final season of the show.

I think I didn't see most of the episodes.

    "Dia-BILL-ic Shock"
    By: Greg Edmonson
https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6vrphx (load is slowed down some)

    Highlights:
  • Nothing.

    Not a bad episode.
Bill is in the early stages of adult on-set diabetes.

Wait -- when did Kahn hanging out in the alley drinking bear with them become a thing? He did it once in the last few seasons. And never before then or since until now.

Continuity error: Last season we found that the power chord to the fan/light, turned on and off the power to the whole kitchen and it was not fixed or referenced to be fixed, yet here Dale pulls it and nothing happens but the fan going on and off.

    "Earthy Girls are Easy"
    By: John O'Connor
https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x70ji33 (load is slowed down some)

    Highlights:
  • 17:17 in.
  • 20:05 in.

    A good episode.

Still totally relevant episode, over ten years later. Literally the same arguments are still being made today and the same Holy-than-though 'tards are doing what they rail against. No change!

Hank: "What the heck is a carbon offset?"
Dale: "It's like a Get Out of Jail for Free card for people concerned about the environment but not concerned enough to actually do anything."

Hank: "You can put me down for kicking your ass."

Dale: "Who's to say who's cheating? Is Leonardo DiCaprio cheating when he offsets riding around in a private jet?"
    Hank: "Yes."

    Bobby: "Caring is for suckers."
Peggy: "Bobby is too young to know that; we have to do something, Hank."

    "Square-Footed Monster"
    By: Roger Neill
https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6vrphv (load is slowed down some)

    Highlights:
  • 2:31/3:12 in. Thirty-second country-flavored montage cue.
  • 4:15 in. And a ten-second one.
  • 13:25 in.
  • 15:12 in.
  • 21:56 in.

I actually remember watching this one when it first aired. And in re-runs.

Kahn: "One redneck neighbor down, four to go."

    "Lost in MySpace"
    By: Roger Neill
https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6vrphw (load is slowed down some)

    Highlights:
  • 11:54 in.

Remember when MySpace was a thing? In ten years we'll probably be saying: Remember when Facebook was a thing?

    Continuing SEASON 13:

    "No Bobby Left Behind"
    By: Roger Neill

    Highlights:
  • 5:27/5:51 in.
  • 8:52 in.
  • 22:03 in.

    Mediocre but not bad episode.

    "A Bill Full of Dollars"
    By: Greg Edmonson
    https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5vc5e6

    Highlights:
  • 8:38 in.
  • 18:31 in. Forty-second country-flavored montage cue.

    "Straight as an Arrow"
    By: Roger Neill
https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x70mb34 (load is slowed down some)

    Highlights:
  • 15:55 in. Fourty-second montage cue.

    "Lucky See, Monkey Do"
    By: Greg Edmonson
https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x70mb35 (load is slowed down some)

    Highlights:
  • 1:28 in.

If the shows comes back, and time has passed as the creator has suggested, this episode brings up some questions: In real life the actress who voiced Luanne died, so what are they going to do? Ignore the husband? Ignore Luanne's daughter? Re-cast? Have it so Luanne died while the show was gone?

Having then ignore a relative's kid would be odd. Especially considering how prominent and since the beginning the mother was in the show.

Hank: "What if she gives birth in my truck? There's a limit to what Armor All can do."

    Continuing SEASON 13:

"What Happens at the National Propane Gas Convention in Memphis Stays at the National Propane Gas Convention in Memphis" (load is slowed down some)
    By: Roger Neill
    https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6vvedc

    Highlights:
  • 2:52 in.
  • 8:38 in.
  • 16:31/16:51 in.
  • 19:29/19:52 in. With some bongos.

Decent episode, though I can't help but think had this been done years earlier in the show, it might have been better.

Hank: "And now I'm going to vomit."

    "Master of Puppets"
    By: Roger Neill
https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x70mb37 (load is slowed down some)

    Highlights:
  • 6:11/7:10 in.
  • 13:10 in.
  • 16:49 in.

This episode would have been good if it had been done as late as, say, season five, but now that bobby's fourteen years old (he should be older), it's just a hard one to swallow.

Hank: "I am approaching you with romantic intent."

    "Bwah My Nose"
    By: Roger Neill
https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6vxqj6 (load is slowed down some)

    Highlights:
  • 5:46 in. Some brief lulls.
  • 6:44 in.
  • 12:00/12:33 in.
  • 15:00 in.
  • 18:57/19:53 in.

    A mediocre episode.

Hank: "Is it so wrong to be beautiful?"

    "Uncool Customer"
    By: John O'Connor
https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6u3zsm (load is sped up a tiny bit)

    Highlights:
  • 18:03 in.

    Another mediocre episode.

Hank: "Sure you're plugged in; you're the one who told us about aloe vera."

Dale: "That pregnant woman was fast, but we wanted it more."

    Continuing SEASON 13:

    "Lucky See, Monkey Do"
    By: Greg Edmonson
https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x70mb35 (load is slowed down some)

    ...

Having then ignore a relative's kid would be odd. Especially considering how prominent and since the beginning the mother was in the show.

The late rock star Tom Petty provided the voice of Luanne's husband, Lucky; he's been gone a little over 2 years now, so if they were going to include both characters, I'd assume they'd likely recast both roles with sound-a-likes...

Or, perhaps out of respect to both of the deceased, maybe they might come up with some work around, like having them move away from Arlen?

    Continuing SEASON 13:

    "Nancy Does Dallas"
    By: Greg Edmonson
    https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5vc5eo

    Highlights:
  • 2:24 in.
  • 14:17 in.
  • 21:07 in.

Hank: "Have you guys seen Dale lately? It makes me nervous when I can't see him."

"Born Again on the Fourth of July"
    By: Roger Neill
    https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6w04fm

    Highlights:
  • 0:29 in.
  • 7:400 in.
  • 12:50 in. Honky-tonk-ish montage cue.
  • 15:20/16:30 in.
  • 19:07 in.

Peggy: "Thirteen in that critical age when boys come to that fork in the road; and when Bobby gets there, he might use that fork to kill us."

Hank: "Have you ever seen a grown man cry? Beside Bill."

Bill: "I think it's great how our hate for other people brings us together."

Only time for two episodes today. I'll probably finish the series next week.

    Continuing SEASON 13:

"Serves Me Right for Giving General George S. Patton the Bathroom Key"
    By: John O'Connor
    https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5sa5z8

    Highlights:
  • 18:14 in.

    An okay episode.

Cotton made a big deal in a previous episode to get himself buried in a military graveyard plot, yet here he's not only cremated, but wants the remains flushed down a toilet.

Bill: "I swear, it's like you don't have any respect for me!"
Dale: "Of course I don't; look at you!"

    "Bad News Bill"
    By: Roger Neill
https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6w04fl (load is slowed down a little)

    Highlights:
  • 4:05 in.
  • 5:43 in.
  • 7:39 in.
  • 15:34/15:55 in.
  • 1907 in.
  • 22:03 in.

Peggy: "He did it! He accidentally did it!"

Hank: "I can't believe he said I gave up on Bobby. I mean, maybe I have, but it wasn't all at once, it was a slow painful process."

Hank: "Okay, I have had it with you! Do you have somewhere you have to be? Because I would like to know which direction to kick you ass in!"

    "Manger Baby Einstein"
    By: Greg Edmonson
    https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6w5bkn

    Highlights:
  • 7:29 in. Strings for an imaginary movie.
  • 8:57 in. Acoustic guitar piece.
  • 16:38/1716 in.
  • 20:43 in.
  • 22:09 in.

I don't like this episode at all. After several seasons since Luanne's dead boyfriend came back to her as angel and told he she was meant for something bigger, nothing has happened with her. In fact, at times she seems to have gotten Homer Simpson stupid. No character growth in seasons; she had a kid, but it's not made her grown; she got married, but she's not grown.

John Redcorn has apparently given up on his singing/band.

Luanne: "I can hear you judging me threw your breath, uncle Hank."

Hank: "Look, Lucky, it's normal for babies to do weird things; babies are weird."

Luanne: "Does this doll make me hand a slut?"

    Continuing SEASON 13:

    "The Boy Can't Help It"
    By: Greg Edmonson
    https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x70r7bc

    Highlights:
  • 22:04 in.

    Boring episode.

    Bobby: "Am I the cuteness?"

    "To Sirloin with Love"
    By: Roger Neill
https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x70tkdk (load is slowed down some)

    Highlights:
  • 5:08 in.
  • 7:25 in. Repeating staccato strings and brass playing over for about a thirty-second montage cue.
  • 8:01 in.
  • 15:02 in.
  • 16:41 in.
  • 17:10 in.
  • 18:33 in.
  • 19:42 in.
  • 20:51 in.

    A good episode.

Throw away scene showing Boomhauer has become a Texas Ranger.

The episode seems to have been written to serve as a possible series close, without being a series finale. I wonder if it was aired out of order.

Hank: "I haven't even finished breakfast and already the boy ain't right."

    "The Honeymooners"
    By: John O'Connor
    https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6uo2q4

    Highlights:
  • 13:20 in.
  • 15:15 in.
  • 16:40 in.
  • 17:17 in.
  • 20:30 in.
  • 20:47 in.

    Very mediocre episode.

Bill: "I wish I had someone to look after me when I get old. Maybe I'll just get a cat, although I hear they eat you after you die."

Hank: "Well, Chuck, I could spend all day talking about nails. I have."

Peggy: "Hank, call your mom and remind her not to use the phone."

    Finishing SEASON 13:

    "Bill Gathers Moss"
    By: Roger Neill
    https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5sa5zt

    Highlights:
  • 6:23 in.
  • 7:07/7:28 in.

Not a bad episode, but it's too rushed. Too much is put into twenty minutes.

Hank: "Bill, if you weren't you and you met you, would you want to live with you?"
    Bill: "Well, probably not."

"When Joseph Met Lori and Made Out with Her in the Janitor's Closet"
    By: Greg Edmonson
    https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5vm99h

    Highlights:
  • 7:02 in.
  • 12:39 in.
  • 14:12 in.
  • 17:50 in.

Dale: "I am going crazy! Or is that crazy talk?"

"Just Another Manic Kahn-Day" (final episode)
    By: John O'Connor
    https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5vc5mr

    Highlights:
  • 7:44 in.
  • 14:49 in.

Boomhauer says Kahn has been there for seven years. Kahn moved in early in the first season, so that would make Bobby sixteen and not about fourteen.

Hank: "It even knew I was hungry."

Season thirteen is where the show finally started to lose what it was. It lasted longer than "The Simpsons". For twelve years they managed to keep the show faithful to what it began as, with some bumps here and there; that's pretty damn good.

And so concludes the series (for now). Like I said, FOX was talking to Judge to bring the show back and he was thinking about it, but that was pre-Disney annexing, so I assume that's not going to happen, especially since...

A live-action series is going to film soon to air in summer 2020:
    https://www.facebook.com/151510072239644/posts/king-of-the-hill-reboot-to-begin-filming-for-a-summer-2020-premiersilex-mo-fox-b/387844978606151/

    Tom Hanks as ?????.
    Brian Regan as Hank Hill.
    David Koechner as Bill Dauterive.
    Ken Jeong as Kahn Souphanousinphone.
Nick Offerman as a new character named Johnny Southworth.

And Johnny Hardwick, who voiced Dale in the animated series, will make a guest appearance as some one-off character.

So, as Judge said if the show returns, the characters will have aged with real-life time passages, so if the series came back in 2020, Bobby would now be around 24 years old. And Luanne's baby would now be about eleven years old.

So, here's some of my personal ideas for a return...

Hank is semi retired and after much trial an effort, he finally got bobby to follow in his footsteps, though Bobby has a comedy career now and is deciding whether or not to drop the propane business. Hank runs Strickland propane, as Strickland has passed away off screen.

Bobby is engaged to some new character, but he realizes he still has feeling to Connie, who is also engaged to some new character. Naturally, it'll take a few years for them to come together.

Bill's life is improving, finally, and he's trying to divest himself of the final vestiges of his previous fat and lonely life, but can he achieve that dream?

Dale has become more weird and more conspiratorial with the internet and invasive technology. I have no idea what more to do with him or if he's still married.

From the series end to this new beginning, Dale's song as found out John Redcorn is his father.

I have no idea what to do with Boomhauer. Maybe his looks have faded and he's settled down.

I have no idea what to do with Peggy.

Now the problem with Luanne and her husband.
Brittany Murphy, who voiced Luanne, died young in real life at the age of 32. A few episodes before the of the show.
Tom Petty, who voiced her husband Lucky, died about seven years after the show ended.

So, the question is whether or not to kill one or both of them off.
So, seasons ago Luanne's dead boyfriend came back as a angel to tell her she's meant for bigger things, but that never happened. So I'm going to have to go with re-casting the character, so we can get to those big things. That means the daughter will stay in the picture.

I have no idea if Lucky should also be re-cast or killed off.

Now another issue: What to do with Cotton's kid? I think bring him back and we find out he's not too different from his father, so the nightmare continues.

All the series comes are still alive, even the one-off's. Though I think it's highly unlikely Baxter will ever compose again, given what I explained earlier in the thread. And it's unlikely Lance Rubin is going to score any television or film again.

Or, if you have Luanne and Lucky live out of state for some reason (as I mentioned above), you could have the daughter living instead with the Hills -- kind of like the original Luanne situation in the series.

But -- depending how long she's been living with the Hills -- as a change-up, maybe have her be more like Hank (him being a big influence on her), and definitely be more ambitious about her direction in life than her flighty parents?

    ========================================

Seriously, thank you for this list. It's been great reminiscing and remembering this great series over the past three months... smile

    You're welcome.

As a fan I think it's an empty set up if we don't see the bigger things Luanne was meant for. And it would be a lackluster fat in the wind if it happened off screen and then she died or moved away and we never hear from her again.

So, I just checked out an episode "Bless the Harts", which as I said takes place in the same universe since the series creator got permission to use the Megalo Mart in their show. In fact, one episode title is even based off the name "Magalo Mart".

Anyway, the low ratings on FOX should have been the first red flag. Well, 2:39 in, I bailed. the low ratings are accurate. It's insulting that a quality show like "King of the Hill" takes place in the same universe as "Bless the Harts". I'd be shocked it this makes it to another season, alone gets a full season.

You'll be pleased to know that it's already been picked up for a 2nd season then!

I haven't seen it yet, but had moderate hopes due to the cast.

Sorry to here that you didn't care for it. I've been watching it since the beginning and have found it to be rather charming; it seems to fit right in with KOTH -- nice character/situational humor and not stereotypes, with each episode having a little heart behind it... Of course, my comparison might be clouded by nostalgia for KOTH, since you've recently binged the entire series and thus are a lot 'closer' to it. wink

dragon53 posted in one of his Non-Film Score Discussion threads today:

KING OF THE HILL---writer Brent Forrester posted that a revival of the animated tv series is underway, “I am sure Greg Daniels and Mike Judge will murder me for sharing this but… HELL YES. They are in hot negotiations to bring back King of the Hill. The Trump administration made it suddenly very relevant again. The characters have all aged 15 years. The project is sooooo good. Okay I’ve said too much smile"

Granted, nothing new that I already didn't say over a year ago a few posts above, but at least it's good to know it's not been mothballed and it's heating up.

Watch the pencil-sketched pitch trailer that got the show picked up:
    https://www.avclub.com/we-would-have-ordered-king-of-the-hill-to-series-after-1847730375

Still no news on the show coming back other than preliminary talks have begun with FOX.

The spin-off pilot referenced earlier in the thread:

There are no closing credits, so I have no idea who did the music (assuming there is any original material).
