Anyone else having a hard time getting the lid back on the box?

That's just psychological.

Wait, wait...Are you David Crosby, or am I David Crosby?

If only I could remember my name...

OK, thanks. I thought I'd read something about it being library music.

From:https://www.soundohm.com/product/dimensioni-sonore-10cd

"this is among the most ambitious and important bodies of Italian Library music ever to emerge."

Now on Disc 4. And it is wine o'clock! I can't listen to Morricone (or Nicolai) without wine.

Well, I've now made it through the entire box.

I would broadly characterize the music as leaning toward the dissonant side of the spectrum, although there are several very neutral-sounding tracks along with way.

The set also leans toward the percussive side, generally speaking, although there are many passages with little or no percussion.

There is a wide variety of sounds and textures.

Unless I missed it, there is not a single free-form trumpet freakout over a groove, a Morricone staple from this period.

Some of the albums seem to have their own sonic character.

I look forward to repeated spins.

Just received this magnificent set only to find out that all the CDs have tiny scratches on the playing surfaces. It probably has to do with those plastic sleeves the CDs come in. Does anyone else have the same problem?

PS: come to think of it the reason for these scratches might be the wooden box. There is a fair amount of wood dust on the inner surface of the box that seems to have find its way into all the CD sleeves (during production or while in transit). What a stupid production error…

I didn't see those tiny scratches so far. By the way, I really don't understand why this label proposed those useless plastic sleeves. I have instinctively placed every CD in its black sleeve. I'm listening now for the 1st time to the 7th album.

If I played any of it in our house, the only wine would be from next doors dogs! big grin

Lucky you! … I am with you on those plastic sleeves. Stupid idea… Anyway, I chose the first CD to listen to at random: it was No. 2, Bruno Nicolai. Very good stuff!

Interesting, I just played disc 1 - for the second time since getting the set - and there are scratches on the disc and it is skipping. I wonder if the plastic sleeves are a factor.

My DIMENSIONI SONORE box set will be delivered next Monday, but what many of you are saying starts to worry me seriously. What precautions do you recommend in order to avoid any problem? What should I do ?

I reached out to the manufacturer and they have been very responsive.

Each CD is housed in a clear soft plastic inner sleeve, but there is also an option for a paper inner sleeve. I don't know if the plastic sleeve is a factor, but I've never seen scratches like this on a disc after playing it only once. I haven't even peeked at the other 9 discs yet.

I ordered mine at soundohm. They are very helpful and they'll be sending me replacement discs. I hope those are unscratched…

But could it be caused by small wood chips in the box/plastic sleeves/paper sleeves? I will be careful while unpacking and keep you posted.

The plastic inner sleeves go inside of the mini LP sleeve replicas.

I don't see how any tiny chips of wood could get inside of both, especially if the plastic sleeve is inserted with the opening facing up, inside of the outer mini LP cover.

I think it could. The card board sleeves are quite loose (compared to others of its kind) and dust can slip in anywhere. I would imagine that during production / packaging wood dust could even settle in those plastic sleeves (to have a field day with the CDs in transit…). At least my copies had traces of dust all over, especially the inside of the wooden box which I swiped clean. Of course it's just a theory…

I received my box set today. I was very attentive and, as we expected, there were quite a lot of tiny wood chips or dust, even in the plastic sleeves. The silver side of the discs are far from pristine... It could be worse, but it could be far better. I put the CDs directly into the paper sleeves, after cleaning them with glasses cleaning wipes. I hope there won't be any reading problems like skipping... .I'll check all discs and create FLAC backups as soon as possible.

NP : Dimensioni Sonore CD 1 (No problem so far...)

Somewhat alarmed of what can be read here I finally unsealed my box to check and all I can say is there's no difference. I'd exactly describe it as Laurent-Watteau did: The discs are far from pristine. All of them. I did a lossless rip yesterday with no apparent problems but like you guys already said: Those plastic sleeves are a bad idea - any kind of wood dust or chips adhere to them. I also re-placed the discs into those black paper sleeves and theoretically never have to get them out again.

Well, time to enjoy the audio content of the set...

I'm glad that you were able to get a response. They have not been responding to my e-mails.

Have you heard back from them by now? I received my replacements today (just the discs). Unfortunately all of them are in the same condition as my first set. They came in those awful plastic sleeves that seem to be the problem. I am going to write soundohm. I am not sure another set of replacement is on the horizon for me but maybe they can tell the manufacturer to do something about this for future orders of this set (i.e. change packaging of the CDs…).
