An expanded CD of this would be great.

Concur! I would buy the hell out of a release from this show. Especially one with the actual show version of the main theme.

Can anyone confirm is this one is perp. with Varese, or is it an option for other labels? I know MV said a while back they had no plans for this one.

I would imagine they probably have the rights to the pilot score in perpetuity, but to have the in perpetuity rights to the hole series scoring, would have been hugely costly. Especially since they have since done nothing to recoup the cost.

I wonder why MV isn't interested; the scoring is essentially a cross between "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and The Orville", one of which they've done multiple volumes and the other has a second volume coming this year. I'd think it would be right up his alley.

This needs a release!!!. I hope Varese comes to their senses and re-leases an expanded set that includes all three seasons.

SeaQuest doesn’t sell like Star Trek. I’d imagine it would be a tough sell.

The composers have pretty good followings, so it might not be as tough as you expect. Well, maybe not Russ Landau, but Davis and Debney do.

Most scores don't sell like Star Trek, but that doesn't stop labels from issuing things that would obviously be later discontinued, Golden Age/Silver Age scores which we are told sell poorly, and even more score from "The Came Bronson".

I would be all over a release, heck besides animated series this is my live action TV holy grail.

Doubling back to an episode that was not up back then. The thread bump and reading through it reminded me of the missed episode.

"Lostland"
By: Don Davis
https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6i84rt

This is the final episode Davis scored.

Highlights:
  • 0:00 in.
  • About 11:52 in. Some strings and a repeating drum beat, followed by some more uneasy string work with some brass.
  • 19:03/20:13/20:53 in. Swirling strings and brass for some sword handling. Kind of reminds me of McCarthy on ST: TNG. *
  • 26:09 in. A brief solo tuba(?) opens the cue before a trembling violin and a detache cello bass ads to building tension
  • 32:00 in. More sword-handling music. And tiny bit of waterphone use.
  • 36:05 in. Some kind of ethnic woodwind with a repeating pattern that sounds like a harp, but isn't, followed by some soft brass and light string use. +
  • 38:12 in.
  • 40:46 in.
  • 43:39 in. Rousing, spirited, adventurous, the kind of stuff we really weren't getting until "The Orville" came along and brought us big orchestral scores again. In a way, reminds me of Horner.
  • 49:08 in. And a good close.

Perhaps a top tier effort by Davis. Certainly a second tier.

SeaQuest finds Atlantis. Yep, hidden for centuries, but is handily found on a routine mission. Next thing you'll tell me is they find Amelia Earhart on another planet!
Suspension of Disbelief instructions: Take one pill and view. The pill is bigger than your mouth.

    SeaQuest has an "Amber alert".
What's that? You have a possible bomb? Well, clearly the answer is to shoot lasers at it.

    MAGLEV conversation.
MagLev Computer Voice: "Thank you for riding MagLev."

SeaQuest uses a hypospray-like device like "Star Trek: The Next Generation".

    * = Another Star Trek callback: Crew member goes crazy with a sword.

+ = Man, isn't that handy? Rigamortis didn't set in. At all.

    Both acting out-of-sorts.
Commander Ford: "I am, ah, seeing things, Captain; I should be relived of duty."
Bridger: "Can't anyone on this boat be responsible for their own actions? You wanna be relieved, relieve yourself; you're a commander -- don't come whining to me. I'm not running a boat for victims. Pull yourself together, man."

MV should make plans for this re-release. The music was epic and deserves an expanded/re-mastered release.

Remember when one of the reasons for the show's cancellation was that it cost so much to produce because of the special effects?

Online info': an average of $1.3 million an episode.

The per-episode average for the upcoming Star Wars series "The Mandalorian": reportedly $15 million.

Okay, so special effects are cheaper and faster to do now, so can we have "Seaquest: The Next Generation" now?

It'd be neat, they could probably now afford to have an entire crew of talking dolphins.

Even tho you're joking, I'd get behind a sequel series. Sadly, a true reunion is no longer possible for many of the cast...
