Finished first season of FROM. As I said, pretty good -- but again, worried that a) it's vampires, b) they're all dead and in some kind of purgatory, which means that c) it goes too far into LOST territory and loses itself in too many unanswered mysteries. That would be interesting, since both shows star Harold Perrineau. But I'll see how it develops in season 2 (from what I've read, it's been renewed).

Moving on to NIGHT SKY next, even if was cancelled after only one season.

Finished NIGHT SKY; that was a pretty nice slow cooker. Shame it was cancelled; would have loved to see more of the portal world(s).

Anyways, on to THE PERIPHERAL now in my effort to clear out all the remaining titles on the list in 'bold' (meaning unseen). VR-type stuff is not generally my thing, but there's some genuine talent involved here, so I'll give it a chance.

I see no mention of NOWHERE MAN (the original, mid-nineties version):

Unknown forces conspire to erase the identity of photographer Thomas Veil (Bruce Greenwood), and without warning, every aspect of his life is erased during the course of one evening. His wife acts as if he's a stranger, his credit cards are suddenly invalid, his keys no longer fit the door to his home and in one way or another, his family and friends are silenced. Completely alone, Veil sets out on a desperate cross-country quest for an answer while eluding his powerful and unknown enemy.

Oh yeah, I know NOWHERE MAN well, and watched it avidly in the 90s. Great show (although I'm not sure how well it would hold up if I watched it today)! It would, however, fall into the 'classic' shows category that I mentioned in the first post, hence why it's not been mentioned.

Thanks for tuning in, though, gsteven. Most of the time, I talk to myself in this thread! big grin

Added the show SILO to the list. Looks like an intriguing premise.

Anyone watching THE ARK on Sci-Fi Channel from Dean Devlin?
Seriously sh!t, but in a good way.
Sloppily written, Scooby-Doo characters, soap-style situations and bonkers science.
But we've barrelled through Series One in quick-time.
I do believe a Series Two is coming forth.

I tried it this evening, but couldn't get past the 15-minute mark. It's bizarre to me that post-Emmerich Devlin, who has done a couple of decent pics since (I dig GEOSTORM, seen it 3 times, and heard good things about THE BAD SAMARITAN), is able to conjure up this cheapo pap, which looks like it comes straight out of 90s SyFy territory. So while I agree with your 'shit' part, I'm afraid I don't see the 'in a good way' part. Not for me, this, despite a premise that on paper is right up my alley.

Well, 15 minutes is no time to give any series a chance.
Some shows I've watched previously clicked after 4 or 5 episodes.
While I'm in no way comparing quality, Breaking Bad took me one FULL series, plus half of season 2, before I could understand what lots of other people were telling me (that it gets better and becomes fantastic...which it did).

I feel pretty "trained" to catch if something is worth my time after 15 minutes, whether it's a film or series. If Devlin makes a big budget feature film out of the same premise, I'm game!

Interestingly, I was mesmerized by BREAKING BAD from the very first episode, so interesting how one is different that way.

Oh yes...I forgot, Thor.
You also know you're gonna like films before you see them wink

Sometimes, yes.

Currently working my way through a couple of shows that aren't normally up my alley. First is INTO THE BADLANDS, as suggested here. I'm not usually into these rather goofy fantasy/costume/wuxia setups; my main attraction was the post-apocalyptic bit. But the world is rich enough for me to see it through (3 seasons were made before it was cancelled).

The second is V WARS, which again is not something I'm into. I don't like vampire stuff; it's been so watered out over the years. But since only one season was produced, I'll get through it on Netflix.

As the list on the first page attests to, I'm starting to "dry up"; i.e. I'm nearing the end of all shows, both suggested by others and myself. Wonder what I should do then? Get a life, maybe, LOL? smile

I don't see mention of AWAKE, the series by Kyle Killen about a cop whose life switches back and forth between two realities. It was bogged down a bit during it's only season by leaning too much on being a police procedural, but got increasingly weird towards the end. The planned second season would have been much more surreal.

I'm also surprised to not see LIFE ON MARS on the list, another fantasy police procedural from the UK. That's not obscure, you've probably heard of it. I'm not talking about the US remake.

Different realities as in parallell dimensions or as in "in his head"? I'm not really a fan of "in your head" psychological sci fi, nor police procedurals. Thanks for the tip, though!

Oh yes, I remember that show, and I'll add it to the list. Saw it at the time, in the mid 2000s. It was okay, as far as I remember, although I actually prefer another John Simm-starring show from around the same time, the non-sci fi crime show THE LAKES. Again, not a big fan of crime in general, but this was a show totally envelopped in mood and landscapes, so I dug it. Also, I've always been fascinated by the incredibly dark issue of human trafficking, so that helped (at least I think it was about that; maybe I'm confusing the plot with a different show).

He's in a car crash with his wife and son. One morning he wakes up and his wife is alive and his son died, and the following morning he finds that his son is alive and his wife died, and the two worlds start alternating every day. He doesn't know why. Nor do we, since the show got cancelled, but the last episode is trippy, like the finale of The Prisoner.

I was going through the PURGE movies again, and noticed that there was also a TV series that came out in 2019 and that ran for two seasons before it was cancelled. So I've added that to the list, and currently watching through it. It's an OK show, but hampered by flashbacks and some intrigue elements that slow the main premise down.

I would NOT recommend an animated superhero series called "Invincible" (Started in 2021 and still going).

I decided to check out the pilot based upon a photo and the series idea, just to see if it is any good.

It's so bad. The characters are boring and kind of generic, the writing is very immature (like a teenager wrote large parts of), cliched lines and cliched ideas, generic nothing scoring from Joe Paeseano. I had to abandon it.

Superhero series fall into the sci fi genre, so I decided to come here and warn Thor and others.

I've added the two MonsterVerse series to the list -- SKULL ISLAND and MONARCH: LEGACY OF MONSTERS, which premieres today.

Added the Sky show THE LAZARUS PROJECT, which I just finished. Pretty good, despite a couple of plot holes and a protagonist you'd rather see pay for his sins, but that doesn't. At least not in season 1. Hoping for a third season.

Added the new Apple+ show CONSTELLATION. The "psychological thriller" aspect of it concerns me a little bit, as that's not something I generally like, but let's see.
