It’s definitely time. There’s no time like the present. Hans Zimmer, please retire and Rest In Peace. Inappropriate comment or not, an interesting question is who will take over for Zimmer when he retires? Balfe?

To the Zimmer haters think about this: Those people who does not listen to film scores as we do, if you ask those people if they can name any film composers. One of the few who they can name and even perhaps like is Hans Zimmer. So I think that if a composer like Zimmer can get people who does not usually listen to film scores start to listen to film scores then for a film score fan like me that`s a big win. In my experience, that doesn't happen. I met someone a few years ago, and it came out in conversation that he was a huge soundtrack fan. I asked him which composers he liked. He answered "I love Hans Zimmer and Steve Jablonsky!" I said "Well...I'm more of a John Williams man, myself", to which he said "John Williams? Who is that?" So I would not say Zimmer's music is "crossover" materiel. It certainly did not lead this fellow to other film composers (nor indeed did the CD-R of John Williams themes I gave him).

I am sorry, but regardless of how you feel about Zimmer and Jablonsky, what they do is film music too. There is more to film music than John Williams. The fact is, without Zimmer and RCP, far fewer people would care about film music. Zimmer has arguably contributed to the popularity to film music more than anyone. And that means bringing guys like Powell and Wallfisch along for the ride. People like to say that Wallfisch used to work for Marianelli, but it was Zimmer who got him films like BR2049, IT, Shazam! That also means boosting artists like Tina Guo, Johnny Marr, etc.

Guess your another bat-fan in denial its no illusion merely facts upon facts, everyone got use too framing Zimmer with the same-old plight he's become this "black-sheep" maybe its time too open-up worms who actually gets assisted instead of hanging on first-base waving pom-poms. Don't mean to derail this thread any further but this is what the late Shirley Walker had to say on the matter in an old interview by Ryan Keaveney. "Shirley: I think Danny's fans know by now that he writes his own music. At the time I worked with him, it was more his envious peers who delighted in keeping alive the notion that he couldn't write. Unfortunately, perception frequently outweighs truth." https://walker.cinemusic.net/interview.html Of course Walker is going too complement Elfman & the interview she's getting paid very-well, why was she obtained for those recordings making sandwiches other projects too, why is she credited too other Elfman works some-think don't add up for my liking. What an idiotic response. You obviously know very little about Elfman's work process. The Elfman/Burton Boxet has demos of Batman, Beetlejuice, etc that show Elfman's knowledge of orchestration, long before Bartek or Walker came into the projects. If you have any doubt, borrow it from someone, otherwise please find another conspiracy to troll.
