With only samples...it sure sounds very different from the last cd. I see they found new tapes. Great job what I have heard.

LOOOOOVE that alternate of "The Dome Opens"...especially the last 15 or so seconds of the soundclip!!
Was that on the Blue Box release?

Yes.

Excellent introduction to 2019 with two superb releases that I ordered:
Superman: The Movie
Archer/Warning Shot

PS: I already owned the 2012 edition of Warning Shot but I'm excited by Archer.
Keep up the good work, La La Land!

Can't stop marvel at the quality of the samples. Dream inducing really... dreaming of this sort of release for STAR WARS...

I'll leave it others to comment on the quality of the sound on inexpensive equipment or otherwise, but honestly there is nowhere to go from here for the 50th or at any later time other than a high resolution release. There's no infrastructure in place for that at the moment because it involves two unrelated corporate entities, hence the flourishing of third party labels.

But that would be very interesting indeed. I'd buy a high-resolution download of this score on the spot.

That was my thought exactly. This is what the Star Wars scores deserve. 2-discs containing the complete score, newly remastered from the session tapes, followed by the alternates, and the original album presentation on a third disc. I'd buy the hell out of them.

Oh, how I've longed for just such a thing for Star Wars!! Three discs per film - that would make nine discs per trilogy, twenty-seven discs for the entire saga. Twenty-seven discs might make for a cumbersome set, though, so they could package it one trilogy at a time: Prequels, Originals, New JJ Wars. All in superbly-mastered Matessino sound. Ah, to dream.

Yes.

I believe LLL released EVERYTHING that was in the Blue Box. So people can stop asking that question.
(Referring to Williams music not the cartoon stuff)

And I'm dreaming of a similar Indy set. Raiders would take 2 discs complete score and album. The others 3 discs. Therefore an 11 disc set.

What does "better-sounding" mean in the description of Warning Shot? The previous release was plagued with muffled, low-level dialogue in the background of several tracks. Has the new version eliminated all the vocal bleed?

What was wrong with the Superman Blu box ? To my ears it sound good and as anoted " For this definitive presentation, the entire recording has been painstakingly remixed and remastered from that first-generation source, yielding the best sound quality ever" , So what is better than the best sound quality ever ?

Allowing for hyperbole, also realize that the word "ever" should probably have been "yet."

Listening to the “Prelude Main title” sample I’m surprised at how different “the opening credits “ part sounds. It’s the part leading up to Richard Donner’s name in the film. On every version I’ve heard, the the notes drop lower but on the sample the pitch seems higher. I’m explaining it poorly but hopefully someone gets what I’m saying.

Thanks for noticing! The STM source music on SII/III is indeed exactly as it was recorded and now mixed from the 2-inch masters.

Does this by chance include the two pop renditions of “Can You Read My Mind”? I absolutely love those.

Mike, I am so very excited for this release. I never dreamed the 24-track masters would be located after all these years! And the work you do is exemplary, particularly the fact that you don’t brickwall the sound. I could hear the difference between this and the Blue Box in the louder passages of the mp3 samples; they sound nicely transparent and unsaturated. Almost like a re-recording. Congrats in advance for a job well done!

Yes, the remastered pop arrangements are on the SII/SIII set. They sound wonderful.

Yes, those were remixed too. But technically they were not "pop renditions"... those were actually alternates of the cue for the movie, one intended for a singer and one designated as a "non-vocal" version. Neither of these was ever supposed to have the spoken vocal track over it; only the third version that they ultimately used was intended for that.
