WKRP IN CINCINNATI - Tom Wells/Hugh Wilson lyrics (see also David Shire's "There's a New Girl in Town" from ALICE)

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA - Stu Phillips
DEXTER - Rolfe Kent

And not sure if counts as a main theme, but Vince Guaraldi's indelible "Linus & Lucy" from the Charlie Brown animated features.

Doubly honorable mentions for themes for TV broadcasters:

CBS Special Presentation

The latter fascinatingly created from bits of Morton Stevens's soundtrack to the original "Hawaii Five-O" series:

And, of course, "The Mission" (Theme for NBC News) - John Williams

right!? that's the reason i did a follow up top 10. the initial 10 were things that left longstanding visceral/psychic impressions on me when watching the show (at age 3 or 4 i was literally dancing around the living room when DALLAS came on).

unfortunately M:I was about 10 years ahead of my birth/aural cognition. which kinda sucks now that i've heard some of those scores — all horn blasts and chugging strings and sneaky jazz percussion and the occasional creepy synthesizer and/or anachronistic electric guitar riff. a few of my favorite things. the M:I theme wouldn't really come into my life until i was in jazz and marching band in the early 90s, and of course the mid-90s with the launch of the film franchise.

Have too look back the UK & US is too little for ten of the best on tv.

Recently watched Juliet Bravo the theme to that is catchy as hell.

Also watched Cagney & Lacey that opening theme is so good.
