Hi All,

I was wondering what are the differences between the original pressing and the revised replacement discs that are currently being offered for free by Intrada? Ideally, I would like to create one combined album featuring all the versions. Any help would be much appreciated!

Karol

Revised pressing?

Yes, see here:

"For Humanoids from the Deep fans, we worked with Chris Malone to fix a few of the missing echoplex effects. While not many people noticed them missing, we seized the opportunity to address the few places they were missing. As a courtesy, we are offering replacement copies to anyone interested and we'll be happy to throw a copy in (for those that ordered it the first time around) with your next order from Intrada."

Sigh. Must we always conduct full scale investigations to hear about these things.

Thanks.

Question for Roger, I bought my copy on eBay so if I buy a new copy directly from Intrada now will it be a corrected copy?smile

+1 for that question. I think, iirc, that I bought mine from SAE, so would it still be possible to get a replacement pressing from Intrada, or would I have to request it via SAE (would that even be OK)?

Intrada is only selling updated version. If Screen Archives requested the replacement discs they will have them to include in future orders placed with them.

Is the digital version on Qobuz etc. updated as well?

Roger, no relation to the topic, are you doing Edge of Sanity, announced via FT's youtube Channel last month ?

OK, thanks for responding. I'm planning an SAE order soon, so I'll ask if they have the disc and can send a replacement with the order.

Does anyone know which tracks are affected?

Yes, they fixed the missing echoplex in "Discovery" (the last part of "Surprise for Baron"), "The Underwater Boat By" and "Surprise" (which comprises the 2nd half of "Peggy's Rape").
They missed the missing echoplex in "Hill House - Part III" though ("Hill House" consists of 5 parts). I'm also missing the blaster beam in "Footprint" (which should really be called "The Underwater Boat By", the actual "Footprint" is missing) and a synth overlay in "Humanoid's Head".
"Hill House - Part III" is also not the film take, by the way. In the film it ends with a lower piano (clearly heard on the old laserdisc's isolated score). I believe that "Main Title" and "The Buck-O" are possibly not the film takes either. The album takes sound closer to the film versions to me.
Anyway, I'm still glad they fixed three of the four missing echoplex effects.

Well, there's always a later re-issue to include all fixes, and films version and versions from this release. It's a good score, should get re-issued at some point, I think.

Would be interested in that too. Funny thing is, I was just about to listen to this score, when I decided on some Nielsen and Delete instead.

Dang! You are correct about Nielsen.

"Delete" was "Delete" ... &$#@! Happened again. "Delete" was D e l e r u e... It was not "vague posting", but auto correct on my tablet.
