I LOVE the ROLL TIDE cue from CRIMSON TIDE so much because it's just so ludicrously, laughably, entertainingly bad. To me, it's like some music teaching assistant with no formal music qualifications or understanding of how composition works let loose on a consumer level CASIO keyboard, attempting to knock something up that kinda sounds like DAS BOOT. The composition seems to be no more than a few low keys being pressed and the electronic production (particularly the simulated string and brass) is laughably unconvincing. It hardly belongs in a nautically themed MCDONALDS commercial starring Hamburglar as Captain Nemo, l so the fact they had the balls to record it for a major Hollywood movie leaves me incredibly impressed. It works with great, ironic majesty in the film accompanying Gene Hackman's booming voice, achieving everything I think Richardson and Addison set out to do (and IMO failed to do) in the 60s.
The final cue from THELMA AND LOUISE is generally haunting and uplifting, if just an 80s country and western pop backing track. Not an orchestra in sight and all for the better.
BTW, that THE ROCK cue sounds like CRIMSON TIDE to me.
"Roll Tide" was actually one of my contenders for favourite Zimmer cue, but my reason is actually that I think it's BRILLIANT! Power anthems at their very best. Awesome track.
I've got many favourites but the top one has to be "King Of Pride Rock" (unedited film version) from The Lion King. "Chariot Race" from Prince of Egypt promo coming a close second.

Glad to see SOME love for The Lone Ranger, because I happen to think of the whole cd as one big excellent cue, and is therefore my choice. Or it would be if it wasn't broken by that Porky La Farge thingy (or whatever it's called!), although I think it adds nicely to the variety..

Old Souls (Inception) A Small Measure Of Peace (The Last Samurai) Supermarine (Dunkirk) A Watchful Guardian (The Dark Knight) Katherine (Hidden Figures) Rose Of Arimathea (The Da Vinci Code) Firmware Update (Chappie) I'm Going Home (Interstellar) Sorrow (Gladiator) Heart Of Darkness (Tears Of the Sun)
Old Souls from Inception if I am forced to name just one, although Inception has a few more worthy ones.
I also like Earth from Gladiator a lot. I don't have a top 10. I mostly just listen to a few tracks from Inception and the track from Gladiator I just mentioned when I am in my Zimmer mood.

Inception is for me Zimmer's best score - one of my top 30 film scores of all time.
Gee. I am a big fan of his Nolan scores but this one doesn't register. Yet, many fans love it> Go figger>
I am a fan of of Zimmer in minimalist mode, INTERSTELLAR DARK KNIGHT .... BUT THIS IS boring to me. Two chords repeatedly endlessly with no real invention.
