Has anyone actually timed how many times has the Blaster Beam used in the score?

I started with (the cassette of) the LP, which I basically had to play in sequence, where the romantic stuff was back-and-forthed with the V'ger stuff, so that section of the score grew on me earlier than it otherwise might have, especially with the chronological releases having supplanted that one over the past 25 years.

I did have that sort of experience with Logan's Run, though, once the FSM release had made the electronic cues warmer, clearer, heavier and much more interesting than had the previous CD (of its LP). Sometimes I would program only those tracks, where before I'd always programmed them out. It's like having a Christmas present, through mitosis, turn into yet another Christmas present, isn't it; what was once one, short-ish symphonic score is now also a short electronic score (in my case).

Glad to hear the V'ger music has grown on you. It's remarkable stuff, and all a great listen.

It's so operatic and complex but oddly relaxing at the same time. And that LLL 3CD set was like multiple Christmas presents! The wealth of genius is almost overwhelming, but in a good way.

I need to revisit LOGAN'S RUN.

Has anyone actually timed how many times has the Blaster Beam used in the score?

Like... The number of times it is struck?

No.
Or yes. But I'm not telling.

Reading this thread made me go back and have a listen to the CD.

Which then brought me to an Existential Crisis.

While I would not in any way describe myself as a Trek fan, I am aware of the franchise and all of its incarnations.

I’ve been watching a bit of Next Gen lately and have come to associate TMP theme with that particular part of the franchise.

To go go back and listen to that theme used in the 1979 film hurts my brain a little.

You've fallen prey to one of the classic blunders: Never associate the Star Trek: The Motion Picture theme with Star Trek: The Next Generation FIRST.

No, but I want to see a vid where I hear that sound every time Mr. Spock strikes a cord on his Vulcan lute.

This has become a hobby for juveniles.
Silver Nugget? Rainbow Stripe?
Sounds like the same marketing aimed at selling candy-flavored disposable vapes to school kids.

Anything that celebrates this score is fantastic, IMHO.

For those who are keeping score, is this the fourth time, Star Trek: The Motion Picture has had a soundtrack release? The first time would have been when the film originally came out.

By my count:

1) The original LP
2) The original CD
3) The expanded CD that came with Inside Star Trek (1976) on Disc 2
4) The LLL 3 disc set
5) The LLL 2 disc set
6) The new multi-LP set

Nothing beats the 3CD for content and sound.
