I think you said even a hint of Rosenman? (Or was it someone else who made that comment?) At minute 2:47 of the Youtube clip of FACE OF A FUGITIVE a quite obvious quotation of the first few bars of Rosenman´s Main Title for REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE can be heard. It could be that Goldsmith did this consciously.

Why would he though? It's not like he didn't already have enough melodic invention on his own, and he certainly didn't make a habit of quoting other composers (aside from maybe L. Bernstein's On the Waterfront a couple times late in his career). I suspect it's one of those musical coincidences that just happens sometimes because certain notes sound good together. Yavar

And the obvious nod to Poleudoris (I think that was the opening of "Total Recall"). And maybe coincidental, but a few notes from Revell's rejected score to "The 13th Warrior" in his replacement score.

I've heard the former was apparently a joke Jerry and Basil (who were close friends) decided to play on Verhoeven, their mutual collaborator. I think it may have even been Basil's suggestion. The latter I don't hear at all; I like both 13th Warrior scores but I think they're very different. Yavar

FACE OF A FUGITIVE is another collaboration of director Paul Wendkos and Goldsmith (MEPHISTO WALTZ, BROTHERHOOD OF THE BELL, HAWKINS series, DR KILDARE series). Indeed -- I think it was their very first collaboration! He also directed episodes of ARCHER, POLICE STORY, and MEDICAL STORY which each featured a theme by Goldsmith. Yavar

Psyched for FACE OF A FUGITIVE! It is a big deal when a never-before-heard score by one of the greats is resurrected.

Incredible news. Absolutely amazed to see this early JG being released. Assumed this was lost to the ages. Remarkable times for JG fans. Well done Intrada! Can’t wait. Kinda insane that January 2021 brought us an expanded edition of Goldsmith's very last film score, Looney Tunes: Back in Action, and February 2021 we get an announcement of his very first score for a color film, Face of a Fugitive! In terms of his work, 2003 to 1958 -- spanning 45 years of his career output! Yavar

"Is it ITV studios?" -------------- I think Roger said it was Granada, which is our local division of ITV studios (the North and North West). I imagine it's down to somebody either afraid to make a decision, or just can't be arsed. Granada eventually gave in with Capricorn One, maybe it'll happen here as well. However, Roger said this in this thread in response to Kev's reply to my post: Kev: Yeah, Roger said Volunteers is good to go, music/tapes wise. It's the TV company in the UK, who own the rights, but have no interest in brokering a deal for a CD score release. Roger: Not sure where that came from, but that's not who owns it. Good man, that Roger, though.

So Face of a Fugitive was intended to be released in 2020 but the coronavirus delayed the approval process 12 months ... what's another year when the master tapes have been sittin' someplace for 60+ years?
