If you want it get it.

There's a lot of stuff I want to get. If any of these are in danger of selling out in the next month, I'll pick some up instead of MACARTHUR.

While Music for Television was a bigger release for me personally than MacArthur (as excellent as that is), I don't think any of LLL's Goldsmith at 20th volumes are close to selling out. Not that they have mentioned, anyway, and they usually give a heads up on things when it's under 200 copies. I wouldn't wait on them too long but if you're more in the mood for MacArthur I'd go for that.

But if you like more delicate/intimate scores (not that MacArthur doesn't have that kind of music too, but it's also militaristic at times) I would strongly encourage you to pick up Music for Television which has so many varied and often lovely Goldsmith gems, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn probably chief amongst them.

It's not just MACARTHUR, there's a lot I've missed over the years. I kinda fell out of love with Goldsmith for a while and didn't engage with much over the last decade. His birthday last month led me to revisit a lot of stuff and instantly regret my actions. Now I'm catching up.

I should probably point out then that Intrada's expansion of The Last Castle (which also includes a fantastic cue by Mark McKenzie) is going out of print in 12 days:

Here's a Soundtrack Spotlight podcast episode all about it with generous sound clips that focus particularly on the previously unreleased music:

Lots of other Goldsmith scores are in Intrada's Danger Zone as well, by the way, even if they don't have a hard end date:

If you are interested to learn more about any of those and hear extensive sound samples, there are Soundtrack Spotlights on most of them too at www.goldsmithodyssey.com:

I picked up all the Goldsmiths in Intrada's danger zone last month (just arrived today, in fact) except for LAST CASTLE, wasn't a huge fan of the original album, although I haven't seen the film so I don't know what's missing.

I'll check out your spotlight and make a decision from there, thanks!

Yeah, we focused on playing a lot of the previously unreleased music in the background (and sometimes foreground) of the Spotlight, so it should give you a pretty good idea whether it's something you want. I personally really like the score because it feels like a (better performed) sequel to the great score that is Rambo III.

Even though you already bought the albums, you might still get something out of listening to the Spotlights on the other four scores, particularly Take Her, She's Mine where we go quite in depth with three honored guests: Mike Matessino, Chris Malone, and John Takis. Curious what you end up thinking of those four albums... Face of a Fugitive is probably my favorite even though it's in 50s mono.
