Glad to hear that folks are enjoying it. I was taken aback by how many people here simply had no interest in a score by Johnny Mandel from a time when he was writing some of the best film music EVER.

I've been enjoying this score a lot, and have played it many times since receiving it. I'm especially fond of the melody. Portions of it, especially when played on the piano, remind me of a song from 1985 called "The Captain of Her Heart," and I wonder if the writers of that song were influenced by this score. There is an awesome moment during the "End Titles" where the clarinet begins to play the melody heard throughout the score, and it is just beautiful. Here again I wonder if the composer for "Mad Men," David Carbonara, may have been influenced by Mandel or this score. The part of the end titles music I mentioned could have fit right into "Mad Men" quite easily. I recommend this score to anyone!

This is also a case where the length of the album, although brief, is just about perfect. Wonderful, soul-searching stuff.

This is a nice mid-seventies companion to scores like The Yakuza and Marathon Man, though sweeter-natured than the latter. A mix of the elegant and beautiful and disturbing. The most minimal electric piano I remember ever hearing (not minimalist, just spare). Also might be an enjoyable album for lovers of Joe Hisaishi's music for Miyazaki films.
