Honestly, I thought this was out of print, and they just hadn't updated the status. Ordered! Yeah, this is a weird out of nowhere restock after being treated as OOP for a year and a half. Has that ever happened before? I wonder if they happened to find a small stash hidden away, like what happened with LLL and the Jurassic Park set last year. That would be interesting! Honestly I was just so excited to see this in stock again as I had thought it would be a long time (if ever) I'd be able to get a copy that wasn't a horrendous price like they go for on the secondary market. Ordered!

"This release is so damn good" -------------------------- Agreed. As I noted previously, this is what expansions are really about. Vastly improved sound. Fantastic extra new music, which completely changes the listening experience of the score. Boosting the beautiful/dramatic music, while retaining the big band element, but overhauling the overall listening experience. Sublime.

I'm trying to give some of my "troublesome" James Horner scores another chance, i.e. those I've never really cared much about, or given enough chances. Many of them in the earlier part of his career. BATTERIES is one of them. I'm not that into old-time, big band jazz/swing, nor the many instances of mickey-mousing. And those elements dominated the OST. I'm thankful Horner produced it the way he wanted, of course, but for once I don't think it works very well. So hold on your butts, everyone, here's a rare case where I really LIKE the expansion! I mean it's excessive and unlistenable as a whole, but it has given me the chance to sorta "reconceptualize" an OST with more prominence given to the orchestral bits that are not overly mickey-mousey. And weed out some of the big band stuff. A pretty neat, 45-minute playlist was the result.
