I second Michael’s sentiments above and I’ll add that Disney Music’s preferred distribution is digital via downloads and streaming. CD sales for them are a modest percentage of sales so pre-orders wouldn’t be much of a priority.

The idea that Rey is an unpopular character, for whatever reason, is just plain incorrect. You only need to look at footage from the recent fan con, which name is escaping me at the moment.

Yep. Ever since the Force Awakens was released, I have lost count of the number of attendees at San Diego Comic-Con who cosplay as Rey.

And by the way, GOLDSMITHDAKING, your GIF of Salma Hayek's tits doesn't inspire much confidence that you have any perspicacity about women's roles in film, or women altogether, for that matter.

Well I see pretty hair, face and dress as well. So you're the one focused only on her "tits". Regardless that's how Salma choose to present herself. Are you shaming her for expressing her sexuality?

Fans who don't like Rey, don't like Finn, Poe or Kylo either. They're all badly written characters. And you will find just as many females who dislike Rey. Further more just about anyone who dislikes Rey adores Alita from Alita: Battle Angel. Again sinking the SJW false narrative.

As far as little Rey's running around conventions I've heard the opposite. Tanking Star Wars toy sales says otherwise.

Just about everything you just said is false. Objectively so. How many cons do you attend a year? Also, toy sales in general are way down, however the percentage of overall sales that are Star Wars related are not.

I don’t even know where to begin with the Alita thing. Even pretending that’s not a clear false equivalency and ignoring you know, actual box office and those evil things called integers, where exactly are you getting this data from? It can’t be based on box office or toy sales or, I dunno, facts, so did you get that from an 8chan poll?

Well, this fan and others I know did like Rey and didn't think her part was poorly written. She may be a Mary Sue to some, but not to everyone. It is all personal opinion.

Nice. I’m saving that link for future...discussions.

  • Even with all the last minute editing/changes/fiddling/and other post-production finishing that goes on, I'm still wondering why an album release has not yet been announced.

They usually are by now, because the film's release date is still the release date.

My only concern is that, whenever this sort of last minute scheduling occurs, it results in an "incomplete" soundtrack, and by that I mean even major cues end up missing ("Captain America March", "Love Theme from Legend", the tracks released in the post-premiere European Special Edition of TRON Legacy, etc). This new one might be missing "Main Title/Everything Is Explained Now, So Shaddap".

I do remain a bit surprised we haven’t seen deluxe expanded editions of these yet, though I’m not sure how much is actually missing from TFA.

Regarding the popularity of the Rey character,
Even God himself, the mighty John T of Williams, liked her character SO MUCH that it was one of the MAJOR reasons he continued to score this final trilogy.
HE wanted to continue scoring her story path.

To be blunt, they put a girl at the focus of this trilogy and that is really rubbing some self-appointed guardians of chauvinist sensibilities the wrong way.

GOLDSMITHDAKING: Yeah, because all Star Wars fans hated Leia because she was a woman right?

"Rubbing some self-appointed guardians of chauvinist sensibilities the wrong way" is not "...all Star Wars fans hated Leia because she was a woman." unless you assume (like lots of other morally retarded fanboys) that every male Star Wars fan is a misogynist. Don't be dense.

Some right wing trolls don't like the new trilogy. Neither do I. But for reasons that have nothing to do with the concerns of morally retarded fanboys.

And by the way, GOLDSMITHDAKING, your GIF of Salma Hayek's tits doesn't inspire much confidence that you have any perspicacity about women's roles in film, or women altogether, for that matter.

Come on now,Salma Hayeks tits have always played a BIG role in her career.Ask any heterosexual man!

I had no knowledge of the Mary Sue phenomenon, and have just checked it out. Funny that the concept has transferred so well from Star Trek to Star Wars. Almost TOO convenient.

Let´s return to the topic of this thread: the score for "The Rise of Skywalker".

No release date yet - but judging from the previous entries it will happen in December, after the film´s release.

My personal hope: a complete boxset with the whole Skywalker-saga, done by Intrada.

The thread is about the music but everything is part of a bigger whole and when it affects the main topic, it must be discussed and it enriches the conversation. Otherwise, it's impairing freedom of speech as many other places when anything related but outside the main topic, cannot be discussed and if you're not positive about the main topic then you are being a "hater" or your not "welcomed". Having said that...

About the Rey as a "Mary Sue" archetype. If it's done right, in Rey's case, is not a case of Mary Sueism but a hint that the Force is so strong in her that what she thinks it's instinct (or even anything that achieves without that kind of "thinking"-level of conscience) it's in fact the Force. However there's a few moments in "The Force Awakens" when it was a bit too-much and even disrespectful (outlightsabering Kylo Ren, even though he's hurt and furious it's too much). Obviously all of this went south with "The Last Jedi".

About the music from "The Rise Of Skywalker"... I don't know. I was planning on buying it (as I was planning on never seeing the movie) but every day I'm more tempted not to buy it. Why? Because it is from "The Rise Of Skywalker" film, directed by J. J. Abrams and produced by Kathleen Kennedy, two people who sat together and called everyone who didn't like the "The Last Jedi" movie (and I didn't like it) a woman-hater, a man-child and above all disrespectful of Rian Johnson's creativity choices.

Well, if I'm a writer, I could be hired to write The Lord Of the Rings's The Two Towers's remake when that happens, so... I can write that Frodo and Sam die in the Dead Marshes, Merry and Pippin coming back to the Shire to become bullies, Gandalf revealed as an old man who thinks he does magic, Sauron hits his throne and hurts his big toe causing his death, and Gollum is not even mentioned. How's that for creative rights. Otherwise, writing something satisfactory, close to the story, the genre, the characters and whatever happened before, it would be fan-servicing, right?

I didn't want this to be so long, but there you have it. I probably will falter and buy the soundtrack, hopefully on vinyl, but it will be because of a moment of weakness, willpower flaw of character or influence from the Force.

Note: I edited the post to fix a few grammar points (it doesn't matter how many times you read it before you post it, right?) and added a few tidbits.
