Your digital files will NOT survive CME's or EMP's. Hold onto your physical copies! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!
Depending on the causes, one's music collection might be the least of your concerns....but since CDs last 100 years( ), I'm sure Con Edison will have the electric infrastructure restored by then.

So 7 out of 10 can go.
AS far as keeping copies go. In print/out of print I keep a copy unless I really hate the music. Over decades I've contributed a substantial amount of cash to the film and music industry, they can give me a little back at this point.
Hi Peter, are you selling The Thing or open to a trade.....I have a few things i can trade if you are interested. I live in Kent. email is marksweet5 at hotmail.com
I mentioned this in several similar threads before. I finally did my purge when I realized that as I watch my kids grow, and the world is in chaos, this media collection will not contribute any financial stability for my future. I will slowly pick through the ones that don’t have any special meaning to me and let it go. I can have maybe 10 or 15 that will completely make me happy for the rest of my life.
Thanks for asking Jim. Amazingly well and thanks to it I updated my classical CD collection as I documented in what is your new collection threads.
In numbers: 440 soundtrack CD´s sold during September-November 2020 and found new home what was cca 50% of my score CD collection. Rest of my soundtrack collection is for now untouchable.

For me it's the contrary.Am buying soundtracks more than ever.
Breaking; 2nd Carrington geomagnetic storm event wipes out all computer/electronic files!
Film score collectors who unloaded all of their CDs:
Imagine geomagnetic storm to wipe out all our digital files and destroying all electronic devices like ICDs, life support devices, CTs, MRs, linear & proton accelerators etc...but certainly lost of film music digital files will be the most tragic thing during such event. Ehm....I did not have any soundtrack in digital format.
