A quick question for Mike (or anyone who knows).
Is there any difference between Track 1/Theme From SABRINA (Extended Version) 5:19 and Track 35/Theme From SABRINA (Reprise) 5:21, other than giving Disc 1 a stylish Opening and Closing?

Since no one ever answered my question I'll ask again since it's been out a while now...

So when it says "Instrumental" does this mean karaoke (where it's the same music just without singing), or actual instrumental (where the music has the full melody on a different instrument or possibily even a rearrangement)?

The piano solo performed by John Williams that makes up the first 3 minutes of both tracks is identical in both.

The remainder of either track is comprised of different performances of the end of the End Credits. As in, different performances from each other, and also different from the performances in the "End Credits" track.

In this case it means that the melody is presented instrumentally rather than vocally.

Let me say Mike that this presentation is just fantastic. The Party Album is a real joy. Listening to it made me want to watch William Powell and Myrna Loy films, which worked out since TCM played Powell films every Wednesday this past month. I recorded a bunch and have been catching up. Class all the way. Both albums just relax you and put you in a good mood. Thank you sir!

Thanks. That seals the deal on needing this.

I always loved this score and the movie. But I haven’t seen the film since the 90‘s. So I did not consider this score in need or actually allowing for an expansion.

I‘m so glad I was wrong.

This is such a marvelous presentation of a score which is probably one of the most enjoyable in film music history.

Yes. The rich melodies are so magnificently applied, varied and developed by Williams, it is pure joy to listen to this uninterrupted flow of happiness, melancholy and hope for a happy ending.

It is truly soul food, nourishing and a total feel good score. A must have.

Thank you so, so much LLL for this unexpected but absolutely necessary addition to your wonderful catalogue.

To make it short: This, together with THE EIGER SANCTION, are the soundtrack (re)releases of the decade.

John Williams, master of masters.

I'm torn at the moment. I only have the funds to get one of the expansions, and it's between Sabrina or Amistad. Which one is the better expansion? I will eventually get both, but in the interim, which one would you get?

I am doing an assessment on the entire – ‘Sabrina’ – score… as currently – I am trying to discover:

What is the piece of music used during this following party scene… (?)

I have also gone to the trouble; to write up the dialogue for you as well…

I've typed out the dialogue spoken at the party scene; so that – I can try to prove to you... in regards to – which scene I am talking about... (It is a 20 second scene)...
As I mentioned above; it is during the second party sequence when the Larrabee’s are celebrating Maude’s – (there mother’s birthday)… and the missing music cue; can be heard – right after Sabrina and David share a laugh – after the following party cue…

· ‘I Wish I Were In Love Again’ —

Transcends into this unreleased party cue…

The dialogue for the scene is presented below:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
· Maude: — Did Elizabeth pick out her dress?
· Ingrid: — We're still doing the guest list. Six hundred; that's just on our side...
· Patrick: — It's not a wedding it's a town.
· Ingrid: — Stop; it's gonna be wonderful. Elegant but simple. Lavish but tasteful.
· Patrick: — Cheap but expensive.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The scene then changes to Harrison Ford demonstrating the – ‘state-of-the-art’ – television set… (we get to watch him through a window).

And then; we see Sabrina talk to Rosa briefly – which is when this unavailable party cue – (for some reason) – ceases in the film...

Can anyone please enlighten me; by calling me stupid... (?) By informing me... that the cue – WAS ACTUALLY – released... and – (if so) – which portion of the cue is heard in the film... (?)
I understand that the cue is only heard in the film for 20 seconds; but I would really like to know; what tune / song accompanies those 20 seconds in the finished film...

The JW Fan Website also omits any information about the unreleased cue; even though; there is a full presentation of the complete score – as it is sequenced in the film…
If anyone is interested – here is that – JWFan Link – (you'll need to scroll down to the bottom):

www.jwfan.com/forums/index.php?/topic/35351-sabrina-2-cd-from-la-la-land-records-2023/page/10/

Anyway… I ask my original question again…

· In between:
— ‘I Wish I Were In Love Again’ —

— And —

— ‘La Vie En Rose’ —

There is another Party Cue heard in the film…

Which appears to be unavailable on the #2 CD set?

Yet;

‘Isn’t It Romantic?’ — Which isn’t featured in the final film… was released…

Can anyone please prove to me that I am wrong — by letting me know which cue it is on the CD?

Thank You.

Isn't that Love Letters by Edward Heyman and Victor Young?

Thank You Jason! Just wondering; if you can please let me know – the source of the music… as you might know which CD they sourced that party cue from (?) – as it obviously wasn’t conducted by John Williams for the film – I assume that because it is not on the – ‘La La Land Records’ – release (?)

Maybe Mike might know what happened to the cue; because it definitely sounds like the other party cues which were all conducted by Williams?

Thank You!

I don't know if it was recorded by Williams for the film but not included on the LLL CD, or if it was an existing recording that they licensed and dropped in there.

I learned the name by going to IMDB and seeing it listed after "I Wish I Were In Love Again".

Thanks anyway!

Also;

'How Can I Remember?'...

The version which has been released... as performed by Michael Dees... is neither version which is used in the film...

However, the two Instrumental tracks... are the recorded cues, which were used in the film... (only with the vocal removed)...

...sound familiar?

The Michael Dees vocal version is in the opening party scene, after "Call Me Irresponsible"

The LLL track "How Can I Remember? (Party Instrumental No 2)" is in the second party scene, after "When Joanna Loved Me".
