MV is only partially right: Deadly Friend, Leatherface and Fade to Black were all done as promotional releases for the composers. The MAJORITY went to them, and we only pressed 500 of them to begin with, just enough to recoup production costs. The composers were happy, I was happy, and some of the fanboys, too. Of the Jim Manzie Storytellers Vol 1 and 2, we only pressed 250.

To pick up on my last post: I want to clarify that Slipstream is NOT A BOOTLEG! It is officially licensed from the Bernstein Estate, who won't get rich off this release but are still getting a nice sum that is nothing to shake a stick at. Just FYI.

I still love each of them and will get Slipstream if I cam at the time.

I will also be eagerly awaiting any more "promotional releases" you may have in the pipeline.

Here is the problem with that, Robin -- it deters another label from actually licensing the product legitimately at some point in the future because the market has already been sullied with such a release. Unlike some other "promotional copies" in the past your releases looked legit, with impressive liner notes and stills from the film.

I know for a fact one such label was interested in releasing FADE TO BLACK legitimately, but once that "promo" came out the point was moot. The actual owners of the music did not receive any royalties and were cheated.

Leatherface and Deadly Friend were two titles on our list our list to release some day, but now why should we? You polluted the marketplace with your bootlegs that were sold to the masses through legitimate outlets. That's not fair to labels that are crossing every T and dotting every I along the way.

You are a good guy and I like your label, but when you release titles like those three (and a I suspect a few other ones) it really makes myself and fans of your label start to second guess your motives.

You say Slipstream is legit. I really hope it is.

In the mean time knock off of this "promo" shit and license the things for real like the rest of us do.

With due respect to MV, I gotta shut this puppy down.
