Last night for me was pretty chaotic with the Website timing out. Unfortunately 2 most wanted titles I was pursuing was lost:
THE CHALLENGE (Goldsmith- LLL)
NIGHT OF THE GENERALS (Jarre-Intrada)

I'm sure these will turn up in some other sale so no worries.

But still managed to get some great other stuff locked that had been on my wants list:

Starman-Varese
Lust for Life- FSM
Tai Pan- Varese Club
Ipcress File -MCA Japan
Lion in Winter -Varese
Airport-Varese
North by Northwest
The Chase

Plus a few more from last weeks sale:

How to Steal A Million-Intrada
The Going Up of David Lev -BSX

Seriously this a is great way to gather all those curiosities that you wanted but were afraid of the high market prices from Ebay and others as these are very reasonably priced even for very rare items.

Thanks to Lukas for this great way of getting these great collections to us.

Ah yes. The elusive NIGHT OF THE GENERALS. So frustrating. Some day.

Looking for some old Varese 47000 series. Does the list distinguish between the JVC - first pressings - and the US re-issues. Very relevant in this specific case.

Would Lukas even have the time to check for such details.

Sure! Email me what you're looking for and I can check the stock.

Could posting the spreadsheet a day or two in advance be advantageous? Many visitors may be taking bandwidth by simply "window shopping".

No because I will get emails saying "please please please please hold this or that thing for me!" and I'll be back to doing it manually and losing my mind...

Great words from Paul....and quite touching, this whole thing about collecting and mortality.

I wish I could partake in the purchase of his -- and all the other collections you sell -- to keep Paul and others' legacy moving on, but as I've said before, insane cross-Atlantic shipping costs and a personal lack of funds prevent me (plus, I'm also struggling with the lack of space that Paul speaks of in the article).

Yes, Thor. Memories of discussing the "McKone Collection" with Guy's bro-in-law. Guy and I were the same age and my oldest bro is the same age as Paul here. He had to deal with cancer himself a few years ago but has come out of it mighty fine. May both of them keep going the distance!

Good stuff, thanks to Paul for sharing.

It was sort of tossed in at the end but I'd be very interested to hear about the logistics of getting a collection this size shipped overseas.

I lost an uncle to multiple myeloma. Its no walk in the park.

I am glad I could give some of his collection a good home where it will be well enjoyed and taken care of.

A palette of CDs across the ocean. My goodness. Great story - circumnavigating Ireland by boat accompanied by film music sounds like a grand adventure. Great story.

Hi Mike. The simple answer to your question re logistics of shipping the CD collection overseas is that I engaged a local courier company to handle the job!

All that I had to do was prepare the CDs for pick-up by the courier company. The link below gives access to a PhotoGallery of images that show how I tackled that task.

https://www.paulscannell.net/CD-Collection-prepping-for-shipment-to-FSMCDS/Paul-Scannell-CD-Collection-prepping-for-FSMCDS

The courier company took care of all the necessary documentation and ensuring that the palettes were prepared according to US import requirements/specifications.

Hope that this helps.

Paul

Hi Thor. Thanks for your supportive comments. Yes, storage space became a real nightmare! That issue is now resolved!

Actually it was TWO palettes. And yes, the circumnavigation was a grand adventure. It was a bit of a doddle on the South and East coasts, which are relatively sheltered. But the North and West coasts were a different story altogether with the full brunt of the Atlantic bearing down on us. We had some exciting moments! Details and short video clips can be found here: https://www.paulscannell.net/Arthur-The-Photo-Gallery/Arthurs-Coastal-Cruises/2018-Arthurs-Coastal-Cruise/2018-06-28-Arthurs-Circumnavigation-of-Ireland

Interesting! Thank you for sharing!

Not totally unrelated, I'll be in Galway with family in mid-April. If you have any particular restaurants or land-based adventures to recommend, please shoot me an email (check my profile).

Thank You for sharing your story and collection, Paul. I picked up a lot of stuff approximately 18 albums in total and and a great bargain to complete my missing holy grails. They are eroute to me here In Pakistan.

Ofcourse, the website was in a frenzy and some awesome titles just whizzed by.

But I have to compliment you on your choice of titles that you had amassed. A great taste in film music.

Wish you a full recovery and great health. Cheers!
