I literally almost ten minutes ago attempted to for the first time "watch KOTCS" after loving the original trilogy.
I have recently watched the first three films on Blu-ray, and honestly after seeing the opening of the fourth one, it just felt off, like Ford didn't care and his acting was just weird so I turned it off. A probable good decision. It's not good when I'm ten minutes in and I'm already cringing and the whole thing feels forced and like a self parody.
If you think you suspended your disbelief some in Temple of Doom, you saved yourself from full-blown WTF? with the infamous "Nuked the fridge" scene.
Don't bother seeing the next installment -- they're following up on KotCS.
Nuked the what now? I don't even want to look into that.
Thank you for bringing up Temple of Doom, because whilst I could have done without the racism, silly inflatable raft falling perfectly through the air, and oh yeah...... Kate Capshaw! I honestly thought part two was really entertaining. I think the whole bridge sequence was my favorite in the entire trilogy. TOD had the best music of the three as well IMO.
Yep, I would love a complete Indy soundtrack release, and it will happen eventually, but I like what we already have. The pitch problems don't bother me. I'm glad to have the extra music.
I would love to see the first three films released as 2-CD releases, with Raiders finally given space for the full ~83m score plus alternate, and maybe the concert arrangements for the sake of completeness. These three have always worked best for me as complete releases as all of the music is so good and has such a strong narrative quality. The score for the fourth film seems to work best for me in edited form.
