583. Justin Boggan in "Assassination, Victorian Psycho, The Thing" in what is fast becoming another classic dwarf thread:

"Wasn't that not the main reason, though? Wasn't it because the original dwarves were regular actors of full size and not *dwarves*, which caused the dwarves of Hollywood to rise up (no pun intended)?"

The Dwarves of Hollywood.

In ten or so years when Wokeness has died the painful death it deserves and the idiocy dumped in the shitcan of history, perhaps Hollywood will make a film titled The Dwarves of Hollywood, where they fight the injustice of Disney casting regular-sized muggles for a remake live-action film.

Tagline: "Guard you knees -- they're pissed..."

It could be an update of ' The Gnomes of Dulwich'.

So, Bob Igor wakes up and is attacked by seven Hollywood dwarfs then. Sounds good to me.

Black Friday in the UK!! WHY?

"Because the Brits are as a big a flock of sheep as the Yanks? smile"

585. Tall Guy, claiming Doctor No is a musical in "Why is Joker: Folie à Deux Not a Musical?":

"What’s that musical set in Jamaica from the early sixties that includes songs performed by its characters?

"Oh yes, Doctor No.

"Sorry, Doctor No: the musical

big grin

That's some brilliant revisionism.

It's either that or the weight of the facts turns him into Joaquin Joker.

#587.

Hurdy Gurdy:

Just finished watching this film - via a good old bad VHS rip straight off the telly, no less - to gain some context for the music.
It's a pretty dumb film with a hilarious scenery-chewing performance from Christopher Plummer, trying for a sadistic French (Cajun) version of Quint, but coming off more like Henri the French Pigeon from AN AMERICAN TAIL.
If it wasn't for the music by Bruce Broughton, which is mixed nice and high in the movie, it would be totally unwatchable.
His score does so much heavy lifting, especially during endless scenes of dull boat chores and slow manoeuvres at sea.
He also aids immeasurably to the sequences of dread, suspense or tension the film has on offer, before we arrive at one of the most abrupt, rushed and laughable finales you're likely to ever see.
BB deserves a medal for gifting the film such a sheen of excellence.

588. Hurdy Gurdy in the tribal Football 2024-25 thread. I wish the paid TV pundits stated things just like this, it would be oh so refreshing! I especially enjoyed the line I put in boldface.

"Big game for Spam at the weekend...EVERTON!!!
Lose that one, and the Lop-Sided-Pot-Of-Glue might be sacked.
Although I'm hearing Fat Frank is available and up for the job eek
Between him and Gerrard, there MIGHT be a trace of personality and va-va-vhoom (jokes...there's not).
They both lack the ability to rev-up and inspire 15-20 young millionaires to break a sweat twice a week.
And tactics? A plan? Do they have one?
I'd stick with the Glue."

Followed by a wanky pathetic secret south LA handshake sequence with teammate that lasts 42 seconds lol

589. Magnus Opum tearing into the dead franchise that is Star Track in a thread title consisting of nothing but the dead in "Star Wars, Star Trek, Ghost Rider, Scorsese":

STAR TREK---an update on the Paramount Pictures reboot movie is that movie will be set before the original tv series

"This will be, what, the fourth entry set before the Original Series now? Jesus fucking Christ, people. Try something new. For a franchise about the future, they sure do love kicking a dead horse from the past.

"Star Trek died after DS9.

590. Prince Damian cracking wise(ly) in the proofless, weirdo thread "How to Live Longer":

BerkeleyinDavid: "Can't find a link....

"Heard on the radio-box that people spending time out-of-doors lived longer."

Prince Damian: "You mean like homeless people?"

591. Josh, making Sunday a day worth reading the mainstream side of the FSM Board in "WHY there will be another BF batch from La-La":

"Good luck with that situation, Mark, and I hope you're able to spend time with your boy.

"We're depending on the few film score nerds who've actually managed to mate and procreate to inspire the next generation to carry the torch and keep up the good fight against "music from and inspired by" albums."

There was a recent post in which a mainstream FSMer droned on hilariously about how he didn't like music with vocals, so I want that post in this thread, NOW.

"Mainstream FSMer" ha, you mean someone from the other side?

The dark side, they are.
