When I got a DVD from Blockbuster of HIGH CRIMES
it would not play in my Panasonic player (3 years old) and is the only DVD that has never
played. I tried two others and they also would not play. I noticed that the DVD has no writing
on the play side inside ring like most DVDs and
only had made in Canada scribed on the inside.
It also had a pale look compared to the normal
DVD. I asked if it was a DVD-R and they said no
that it is a new kind of DVD and I needed a large screen to play it, sounded like bull to me. Any ideas as to what is different on this
DVD?

A DVD-R has a rather purple tinge to the disc. I don't know what you had, but I hope you got your money back from that censoring Block"head" company.

Yeah, there is (to my knowledge) no DVD where you NEED a big screen tv to watch it. There are dvd's where it would BENEFIT you to have a large screen tv (movies with a 16X9 ratio comes to mind), but none where it won't play. There is no way for the DVD player (or DVD) to know what kind of tv you are playing it on, it only outputs the signal it is told to output.

That blockbuster employee didn't know a lick of truth when he told you that. They were only, probably, trying to impress you.

Idiots.
