La-La Land Records and Warner Bros. proudly present the world premiere release of the magnificent original score to the acclaimed television series SUPERMAN THE ANIMATED SERIES. When producers Bruce Timm, Alan Burnett and Paul Dini brought to life the companion piece to their successful BATMAN THE ANIMATED SERIES, they turned to the very same BATMAN musical team to provide a score worthy of the Man of Steel. Composers Kristopher Carter, Harvey R. Cohen, Michael McCuistion, Lolita Ritmanis and Shirley Walker delivered a knockout musical tapestry, the highlights of which are represented here in this amazing 4-CD SET produced by John Takis and Neil S. Bulk and mastered by Mike Matessino. Running over five full hours, this presentation features over 20 full episode scores, including the three-part epic crossover “World’s Finest” and Lolita Ritmanis’ Emmy-nominated score to “Little Girl Lost.” Also here, is the original unused ending score for the series’ finale, “Legacy.” Film music writer and album co-producer John Takis takes you behind the music with in-depth liners that feature exclusive composer interviews. Heroic art direction from Jim Titus rounds out this must-have compilation, showcasing some of the finest music ever recorded for an animated series… or any series, for that matter! This is a limited edition of 3000 Units.

BLACK SAILS Autograph Exclusive SNS4011
Music by Bear McCreary

STARTS SHIPPING JAN 28
RETAIL PRICE: $15.98

La-La Land Records has been allotted 360 autographed units of this title. Once they are sold out, they are gone for good. They are available to order from www.lalalandrecords.com starting Jan 28, 12pm (PST).

Regular, unsigned copies can be purchased at amazon.com
The soundtrack for BLACK SAILS, a Starz original series about the Golden Age of Piracy, features gritty original music by Emmy® Award-winning composer Bear McCreary. "My goal was to create music that sounds improvised by an exhausted crew aboard a ship navigating choppy waters,” said McCreary. “I wanted the audience to sense dirt beneath fingernails plucking jangly mandolin strings, to feel urgent strains of a hurdy gurdy crank, and to smell stale air wheezing out of old accordion bellows." The resulting score, described as raw, salty and authentic, also features what Entertainment Weekly called "Arguably McCreary’s best titles theme, and that’s saying quite a bit."

TRACK LISTING:

1. Theme From Black Sails
2. Nassau Shores
3. L’Urca De Lima
4. The Banner of Captain Flint

Composer Rosenman provides the film with a complex musical foundation that propels the action narrative into the dramatic unknown, while keeping character, theme and emotion at the forefront. Composer Doyle goes Herrmann Big, crafting an intricate and robust orchestral score that is the melodic lifeblood that courses through the veins of Branagh’s twisty-turny Hitchcockian past-lives mystery thriller. Clocking in at over 78 minutes, this presentation greatly expands beyond the film’s initial soundtrack release, even adding original score material that was cut from the finished film! Produced by Dan Goldwasser and mastered by Doug Schwartz, this expanded release, limited to 2000 units, does one of the 90’s most notable scores long overdue justice. Exclusive, in-depth liner notes from film music writer Brian Satterwhite takes you behind the movie and its music, while Dan Goldwasser’s art design captures the film’s attractive gothic flair. Gladly ordered all three new releases, plus picked up a couple of my backlog. Would loved to have added Green Lantern Vol 1 & 2 but that will have to be for another time.

Also in for Black Sails. That main title has grown on me the more I hear it. It has the very feel of a sea chanty, with the rough instrumentation (like that detuned piano!) that complements the time period and location for the show.

Picked up both of the animated releases. Thanks, LLL, and I'll keep spending if you keep releasing smile

Had the rest of my order (78252) prepped before the site updated so it took me all of 45 seconds to checkout with Supes + S Returns + Police Academy. SWEET! Really looking forward to them all. big grin

Unfortunately, I was in class when this puppy hit the web, so I missed it: http://www.mondotees.com/%E2%80%9CBatman_Mask_of_the_Phantasm_p_1292.html%22 Figured I'd post it here so ppl could at least see it if they weren't aware.

Superman TAS sounds great, I didn't expect it to be so similar to Batman TAS. Will have to get it at some point.

Ordered the new releases and a couple back catalog DC animated titles.

LaLa, please expand your great work on animated series scores with some classic 1980s cartoons. G.I. Joe and Transformers should be on top of the list, and their composer Robert J. Walsh says he has all the old music. A link to his company is below. Check out the rest of his resume for tons more classic cartoon score music that could be released (Dungeons & Dragons, Jem and Spider-Man to name a couple).

Instantly ordered!

Personally, I think in many ways Superman is musically superior to Batman. I think Superman will be a fast seller. It has a large fanbase and I think new listeners will want to pick up after hearing those samples, which are only a small number among many other great pieces.

Looking forward to more Superman!

Picked up Brave and the Bold, and Black Sails. Really wanted Superman TAS, but it will have to wait until another paycheck rolls around.

Ah yes Spider-man!!!!
As for the others mentioned, I'd favour a release of the "Masters of the Universe".

They are well aware of the interest in classic animation scores, if only it were that simple smile

I am so excited by the release of Superman TAS and Batman BATB that it's been the highlight of my day to make an order, and helped me keep my mind off a minor but uncomfortable medical procedure I had to do right when these went on sale, f'r crying out loud.

In fact I got so excited I had to add Dead Again and Fantastic Voyage, two releases I thought I was going to skip since I had the earlier versions but then just wanted to show support for this great label - and well, also have them for my very own.

Thanks, L L L!

Can you fill me in on what some of the issues might be? I know Hasbro bought the rights to all the vintage G.I. Joe, Transformers and Jem cartoons recently. The original composer for those shows, Robert J. Walsh, still runs his own music company and apparently has master copies of the original music to the shows. Recently another company released a score CD to the 1986 Transformers animated film (by a different composer). While something like Masters of the Universe may have complicated rights issues, it seems like a music release for the Hasbro properties should be simpler to put together.
