Shirley made many enjoyable films - sometimes she was better than the material she was given. So many great songs were introduced in her movies too.

I really loved POOR LITTLE RICH GIRL - one of the only ones not released on dvd in the US. Costarring Alice Faye and Jack Haley plus Gloria Stuart + Jane Darwell -- all the songs are fun ---"You Gotta Eat your Spinach, Baby", "Oh My Goodness", "But Definitely", "When Im with You"... Oh and dont forget the Spaghetti scene !

THE BLUEBIRD-40-A most enchanting film- as for song, I always found ANIMAL CRACKERS, a cute addictive tune.

In WEE WILLIE WINKIE, she sings the most complete version of "Auld Lang Syne" I've ever heard anywhere.

Is this a good place to brag that I just found one of the Shirley Temple songbooks? The one from 1957? (Sheet music, that is.)

It has "Animal Crackers in My Soup" AND "On the Good Ship Lollipop," so I'm now the coolest person on my whole block. big grin

I totally agree. Also, John Ford directed WEE WILLIE WINKIE, and kept the saccharine to a minimum. It has a more believable story than most Temple films, along with a few memorable sequences, like the beautifully shot death scene. It’s probably Temple’s most believable, least cute performances.

This appears in the songbook. Lucky me!

LITTLE MISS MARKER. Wonderful film and Shirley before she "learned how to act".

No, I've seen SINCE YOU WENT AWAY, but that wasn't exactly "her film", was it?
