I don't remember the second season at all, and know nothing about that composer. How did that music compare to Gray's?

Totally different experience. Barry Gray was more like epic classical music and Wadsworth was a jazz fusion type action score. I love both of them, but prefer Wadsworth's on album. It's a great listen, but on the episodes the music tends to be over the top.

They both complimented the style of their respective approaches to the format.

Thanks. I may spring for this, but I really want Stingray more than anything at this point.

Incorrect: you should have written an "UNBELIEVABLE embarrassment of riches

Ha! You are totally correct of course - just insane how much I have now!

Stingray is still available on Fanderson as the 3 CD version.

I think it WILL receive the Silvascreen treatment in due course.

Over the last decade, I've managed to snag all of the Fanderson CDs, including the expanded re-issues. At this point, the only ones missing are "International Concerto" and "Sleeping Astronauts".

I see Space:1999 Year One and Two are now available on Spotify and Amazon music.

A reasonable representation of the music from the two very different interpretations of the show between seasons.

Though I note that all the tracks on Season One are attributed to Barry Gray! Even though many were sourced from elsewhere.

Continuing their series of Barry Gray releases (assisted by Fanderson), Silvascreen have now released the Original TV Soundtrack Album for 1967's "Captain Scarlet & The Mysterons"

A reasonable representation of the soundtrack - though the names of some of the tracks are new.

Also on Spotify.

Like the show's music, the show itself... I'm not surprised it wasn't shown in the London area.

Very sad to hear that Ralph Titterton, the archivist for much of Barry Gray's work, has passed away.

Eternally grateful to him and his partner Catherine Ford for bringing much of Barry Gray's work to a wider audience.

Sympathy to his family, colleagues & friends.

Sorry to hear this news, and as you say, sympathies to Ralph's family and friends.

Stingray is the next Barry Gray soundtrack to be released on Silvascreen.

https://shop.gerryanderson.com/collections/stingray/products/stingray-original-tv-soundtrack-limited-edition-cd

I have the Fanderson 2 CD AND 3 CD editions of this; so that's more than enough for me; but will probably listen to this on Spotify.

Silvascreen have produced reasonable representations of the soundtracks to the non-purists.

It would be nice if this release was dedicated to Ralph Titterton, who has helped with these releases enormously over the years.

I think the Silva Screen releases have been terrific distillations of the fuller releases, even though I have the Fanderson releases themselves.

I found the 4-disc release of UFO - whilst a welcome release - a real challenge to get through, even with multiple listening sessions. The Silva one-disc edition was a much better listen, albeit with Track 2 ('SHADO') relocated to near the end of the album, as Barry's UFO scores did tend to lean heavily on the theme in various guises, and placing a bunch of them together so early in the track listing wasn't such a good sequencing decision in my opinion.

Of course, the Silva editions have been produced by the Fanderson team also, and all credit to them for producing these discs for a wider audience.

I also purchased that neat little disc by Silva that included the pop track “Trampoline”. It's a fun quickie.

For those interested in obtaining the Fanderson CD sets - they are having a sale to celebrate the release of some of the shows on Talking Pictures TV in UK.

Yes, you still have to join Fanderson(those are the rules they have to operate under) but it's a chance to own these and possibly others at a much reduced price.

Sale finishes at end of May 2024 I believe.
