No, NOT this:

Is there any chance of getting the REAL Deliverance soundtrack released? I know it mostly consists of Duelling Banjos variations but I found some of those very engrossing and would love to hear it all on a disc (without sound effects over top if I had ripped it from the DVD myself) including the great DB itself smile

Yes, I bought that "soundtrack" myself, on CD, although I think I also have it on LP. But I bought it mostly for "Dueling Banjos." Can't even remember an instrumental soundtrack, although it's not one of my favorite movies.

Anybody ever see the "Saturday Night Live" satire on "Deliverance"? Burt Reynolds was the host, so he was in it, along with Bill Murray and Garrett Morris. It was hilarious and I recorded it twice on VHS ... another reason to transfer some of those VHS treasures to DVD before I trash them!

A bit of "Deliverance" soundtrack trivia:

Did you ever see John Boorman's 1998 film "The General"? It's a look at the life of Irish gangster Martin Cahill, shot in black and white and starring Brendan Gleeson as a pretty despicable character. Boorman made the film because Cahill burglarized his home in Ireland and, among other things, stole his framed gold record of the "Deliverance" soundtrack, which I believe was awarded to Boorman for sales of the album linked above.

It's a weird scene in the film, because Boorman depicts the break-in happening while the man of the house was enjoying carnal relations with his children's young nanny. I saw Boorman talk about this movie after a screening and he said it galled him so much that Cahill stole this very personal item that he became obsessed with the man, and ultimately made this movie. Boorman never got his record back because Cahill smashed it after he realized it was not made of real gold.

Saw the film for the first time recently; count me in for an expanded release with the synth music. Very disappointed that the track "End of a Dream" did not correspond to the scene of Jon Voight's nightmare
