During the 1950's, 60's and into the 70's, one sub-genre of the pop/rock scene was the instrumental. Instrumentals, both rock and pop, got lots of coverage on the radio and in albums, a few even making the top 10 in the Billboard Charts, and more than just a few artists just about specialized in them! Of particular interest to readers on this message board was the fact that a significant number of these instrumentals where themes from the movies and TV shows. Alas, it seems those days are gone, and I sure do miss them. Does anyone have an explanation or a theory as to why instrumentals lost their popularity?

You might mean:
"OPIE" and ANTHONY (who are still looking for work after that horrendous "game" at St. Patricks')

As for why the instrumental is not popular, I think it's just the times. Everything old becomes new again. I think you probably need to give it time!
